I guess they'll have to join the Spacer's Guild, live in a cube surrouinded by a spice cloud and end up looking like a demented walrus.

Discharging 28 sailors doesn't make me gay, ok? Enough with your smug looks and your firm, supple judgemental gestures.

Never tried Spice or synthetic marijuana, but I'm guessing it doesn't get you very high, other than the feeling you get from holding your breath.

Marijuana has a 5,000 year track record of getting the job done - getting you nicely lit up.

I just wish I knew someone here in PDX who can score me some really dank sativa. No indica, plox.

I'll tell you this-- those sailers have been at sea almost continuously for well over a year, and under very adverse conditions (least of all the radiation levels they were exposed to for a month off Japan). Yeah yeah, they signed up for this, but spice is not illegal according to the gv'ment, and this seems a bit severe. How about busting them a rank or something? Instead of tossing them on the streets with the other 30% of vet's out of work.

Back in the 80's they were using marijuana tests to get rif ot their more rotund sailors without incurring the wrath of fat advocacy groups. I wonder if these guys were a bit heavy set.

Hahahhahaahaha! Oh wow.

You will get INCREDIBLY farked up. You expect the high to peak, but it just keeps getting more and more intense. Very, very odd things happen that would never happen with natural marijuana.

This shiat scared the hell out of me:

I'm sure there is a rule somewhere that prohibits military personnel from using any sort of mind-altering substance, for the purpose of getting high, regardless of its legal status. For good reason - nobody wants a nuclear technician on the USS Reagan baked out of his gord on D-ZL when he's doing his job.

And as tricycleracer claimed, this stuff gets you incredibly farked up.

CornDog in 2012,

Spice doesn't show on the Navy's drug tests either. The sailors were busted with it in their possesion.

I don't support the Navy's zero tolerance policy (what they do on their free time is their own business) but if they were using Spice on their shift, they should get discharged. Spice is very effective at messing you up.

Red_Fox: So the real story I wanna hear is ... does this mean this fake stuff actually does something?

I've tried it before...tastes like shiat and looks like fish food but it's a little better than schwag. If you're used to the sticky icky icky, then there is no need to try it unless you want to revisit the days when all you could find was schwag.

"Spice" containing jwh-018 is potent, almost dangerously so. I think it is currently being made illegal or some type of watch list but if you get a hold of some start with small doses to assess tolerance. From what I read an OD on this stuff is a lot like being in a "k-hole", not fun. At small doses the experience is pretty mellow but not very long lasting.

/legalize it.

If they're using any sort of substance that impares their judgement or function on the giant floating metal box filled with flamable liquid, high explosive and radioactive stuff, I want them kicked the hell out whether they were on duty or off.

I went three and a half months without a beer, they can do without smoking up too.

I had three patients in the ER once, all three had smoked spice- I think the package said mellow mango or something. All three passed out. The first guy that woke up thought the other two were dead, freaked out and called 911.

/Bonus part is they owned a stop-n-rob that sold the shiat, they wanted to try it out.

The real issue is, what the hell is in this stuff? There's no way it's good to be inhaling that shiat. I'm pretty sure it's regulated as a supplement (ie, not regulated at all) so literally anything could be in there.

I knew a guy who served as a Jag Officer for the Med Fleet's flagship in the late 80's who not only prosecuted a guy for smoking MJ but got a term of several years in military prison for him. To be fair however, it wasn't so much WHAT he was smoking that drew him such a harsh sentence as WHERE-specifically the powder magazine of the battleship assigned to the fleet.

In the late 80's a friend was based out of (the whales vagina) and used to go to dead shows, get caught , and do LSD in the brig. A lot.

The whole issue with being on a ship is you're never allowed to get yourself in a position where you are a premade casualty. If your asshole captain runs you into an iceberg, if a SSN surfaces and punches through your hull, if some typhoon hits you, a super tanker rams you, an Iranian missile boat or the Israeli Air Force attacks you...

Everyone else is running around doing damage control, prepping the life boats, shooting back, etc while you're sitting there going "Duuuuuuude I'm so high". All of a sudden some other crew members have to look after you instead of doing something else. You're not at your station and someone else isn't at his station because he has to babysit you.

That's why the Navy has a great reason to have a zero tolerance policy on this stuff. It's also historically why liquor was rationed on ship. You don't want half your crew drunk as hell when you slam into the iceberg.

Anyone consuming mind altering substances while on the ship is helping create a situation where a crew member has to risk his life to save their own life. Stick to that kind of shiat on shore leave.

Probably as harmful as a cigarette but that is bad enough. I looked into "spice" after I finally stopped taking pain killers for a broken wrist and collarbone I suffered in a mountain biking accident some two years ago and didn't want to go the criminal route of locating and buying MJ (in my state). So, I looked into these "legal alternatives" which turned out to be more dangerous and less predictable.

/So sad, still in pain but off pain pills.
/veteran. a group of guys from my ship were running a meth lab. ET's I believe, smart guys, good guys. It was a big scandal, good times

When you're in the military, especially on a ship, there's no such thing as your own free time. If you're sleeping, eating, taking a dump, you're on and are expected to be able to carry out your duty 24/7.

Spice (of quality) works almost exacly like real weed, it has synthetic compounds on the herbs that function as agonists to your cb1 and cb2 receptors.

The problem is, you never know where the hell it came from.. some companies make good stuff, other brands are made by 16 year olds in the bathroom.

Also, the government has been steadily outlawing the "good" chemicals, so while spice may have started out super awesome like pot, the quality is slowly degrading as they have to use more experimental, less ideal compounds to stay ahead of the man.
