I've never seen anything that says, 'These are the 2-5 core beliefs of the Nazis', but if I did, I wonder if they'd be such bad things, ya know? Take muslims for example. For a while, the US collectively decided 'We Hate Muslims!' and there was some truth to the things people were saying, but the actual core beliefs of Muslims is pretty solid. I could get behind them. I can respect them. The truth is a tiny, tiny, tiny minority of Muslims did some extreme stuff and gave everyone a bad name.

That's a central concept of many religions. I think it's unlikely, but not outside the realm of possibilities that one of them is true. When considering the merits of a religion, I'm pretty forgiving on the idea that you have to 'believe' in it. I pay more attention to how it guides people in day to day life. Generally speaking, I think most mainstream religions have a lot of good advice and values in them.

I feel the same way about communism, socialism and capitalism. I might prefer one over the others, but I can see some value and merit to the others.

In terms of how society feels about them; nazis are on the same level as pedophiles and terrorists. I'm not sure if it's fair. Maybe it is. I've just never actually been taught anything about it. In school I don't remember learning anything about Nazis except they were evil and wanted to kill all the jews.

Time for someone to adopt a cross road on behalf of the "Jewish Negro Quiverfull Movement."

My wife is Jewish, and we're raising my son in the Synagogue (I'm a godless heathen). I can honestly say I don't have any problem with this. Picking up trash benefits everyone. If they do a good job of it, then let them have at it. We'd do better to politely ignore them, and demonstrate through tolerance the folly of intolerance. Setting them up as martyrs to their cause will only contribute to their mistaken belief that they "the righteous" have been marginalized by a state controlled by the very elements they decry. Like a child who screams for a toy, only to discover that they become quickly bored with it once it is provided. The rational among us must act as adults, and take heart in the fact that in this instance, we are the majority.

So if this is a troll (which, sadly, I doubt), I'll bite and contribute that in four years of high school we covered Nazis/The Holocaust for one class period of World History. Let me repeat that:

My school district felt that approximately 50 minutes total was sufficient time to adequately convey the depravity and horror of an ideology responsible for the systematic cataloging, warehousing, enslavement, and murder of 60,000 people (and oh yeah, they also trampled the rights of their own people, took over a whole lot of land, and many Brave 'Murricans died removing Hitler from power).

Bonus? This was the last class period on the last day of school Sophomore year, and the only reason it was covered at all was because our teacher sped us through other prior events of world history to make sure we got the day devoted to Nazis. IIRC, the footage of the Allies liberating concentration camps was from his private collection, as the school board did not have any A/V of their own on the War or its atrocities.

Of course, this was also a school district that had those stickers in the Biology books stating that evolution is a theory rather than a fact, and who approved a full screening of Gone With The Wind as educational programming relevant to The Civil War in our Georgia History course.
