Guys, if it didn't pass in Mississippi it ain't gonna pass anywhere.
Back to the drawing board with you.

People who do not understand how something works or the consequences of it should not be in charge of making laws that govern it.

Ever.

2011-11-22 11:39:00 AM
Let's have a government small enough to fit in our vaginas!

2011-11-22 11:39:04 AM
What does it take for these dipshiat politicians to understand the freaking word: NO?

Do they not realize that people are mad as hell at them and this isn't helping?

2011-11-22 11:39:58 AM
But I was told that more laws and regulations were a bad thing, that personal liberty was being infringed by the big, bad ol' gubmint, that I and my fellow citizens were better able to run our lives than some dickbag politician.

I agree THIS! Also as a resident of Virginia, I am going to do my part to vote against this retarded bill.

Virginia - Our Hall Pass to make fun of West Virginia has been revoked.™

Does "personhood" really matter? You still have a non-viable human life with a legal guardian that can terminate support for that life. Fetuses are persons in the same respect people in a persistent vegetative state are persons.

2011-11-22 11:45:08 AM
... and Colorado.

For the third time.

Butterflew: Let's have a government small enough to fit in our vaginas!

Why? We've already got one that fits up an ass.

2011-11-22 11:45:34 AM
So, if fetuses are people and corporations are people, can we incorporte fetuses?

I'm thinking specifically of frozen embryos. and the filing of many, many lawsuits/

2011-11-22 11:45:46 AM
Pfeh. They couldn't pass it in Mississippi so they're going to try it in Virginia? Do they want to see it crushed 98-2?

2011-11-22 11:45:51 AM
Loudoun County. Is it the same guy every time?

2011-11-22 11:46:14 AM
NOVA will stop this cold. That's where all the people are.

2011-11-22 11:47:37 AM
I'm sure that this was covered in another thread on the subject, but would passage of this law mean I could have someone arrested for assault if they smoked a cigarette near my pregnant wife?

36 states have voted no on gay marriage. Should we just drop it?

2011-11-22 11:48:14 AM
If this bill were to pass, would everyone become 9 months older? No, because that's stupid. Just like a fetal personhood bill. Now get this crap out of my state!

These assholes won't be happy until we are living in Handmaiden's Tale territory. Fark them all. If they wanted cupcakes on every table three times a week I would oppose them at this point just to make sure they don't get any foothold anywhere.

2011-11-22 11:50:06 AM
give it up, dumbnuts

2011-11-22 11:50:11 AM
Look, the good Citizens of the Commonwealth definitely have their quirks...

But you couldn't get this thing passed in Mississippi. Let's be real here guys.

Exactly. Look at this thing. It cries out "Make the sex in me, then abort the fruit of your poorly conceived tryst".

The Immaculate Conception is not the Virgin Birth.

The Immaculate Conception is the conception of Mary without Original Sin.

Sorry to be a nit-picker, but it's amazing how "Immaculate Conception" is always used incorrectly.

2011-11-22 11:50:38 AM
Virginia has between 30,000 and 120,000 miscarriages per year (the number varies depending on the study you choose) that might be brought successfully to term with medical intervention. So if life legally begins at conception, it would be negligent homicide not to seek medical attention if you might possibly be pregnant -- and you'd have to seek it between the time you had sex and the next time you menstruate.

The public health costs, even before caring for all the resulting unwanted children, ought to raise taxes by at least an order of magnitude. And that's before prosecuting all those homicides. Good luck!

2011-11-22 11:50:49 AM
Yeah... OK, let's play pretend and say that you're a person who sincerely holds the flat-out retarded belief that abortion is equivalent to murder... by supporting this law, you're turning every single failed pregnancy occurring outside of a hospital into something that requires a police investigation. Just... the math doesn't work out there, man, a significant proportion of fertilization events end in non-implantation or rapid rejection of the fetus. There's just no way we have the money to somehow both monitor this and pay people to investigate it, it's not mathematically possible, any more than passing a law requiring that the Mayor lasso the moon and stick it on a pedestal in central park.

Basically, the law is stupid even from the standpoint of an anti-abortion nut, and that's pretty impressive.

2011-11-22 11:51:23 AM
Hells yeah. Make it illegal to be poor and female and pregnant and then withdraw all public assistance for prenatal care. Send them to jail for murder every time the miscarry. That will teach them for being cursed by God with frail femaleness and not being part of the Superior Male Race.

Can't be emphasized enough. Rational thought, not emotional stupidity, needs to guide the hands of government.

Please, people, stop electing the dramatically stupid to office.

Just curious, if I cause a corporation to go out of business, is that now murder or personslaughter or something?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If dudes could get pregnant, NARAL would be the biggest NGO in the country and would be sharing membership lists with the NRA.

Especially since the whole thing was televised.

So an embyro is an actual person, huh? Does that mean that you can declare the little clutch of dividing cells on your tax return?

Bill Hicks said it best: "You're not a human..... 'til you're in my phonebook."

And Georgia. Bonus: Guy out-and-out states that "they" are drafting model legislation to pass in all 50 states. But he won't say who.

When asked about abortion in the case of incest, Marshall replied that sometimes incest is voluntary. In response to abortions in the case of rape, Marshall said, "Your origins should not be held against you [referring to the victim's unborn child]. The woman becomes a sin-bearer of the crime, because the right of a child predominates over the embarrassment of the woman."[7]

Thank you for bringing the dickiness of Bob Marshall to my attention.

//damn, his sis is hot for 47.

I love that these Conservatives are all "WAHHH, WE WANT SMALL GOVERNMENT, LESS TAXES, ETC!!!" but they're totally cool with telling somebody what they can and can't do to their body and who they can and can't marry.

/headdesk

What a great use of taxpayers dollars!

2011-11-22 12:12:28 PM
I'm generally pro-life (I'm opposed to imposing on the choices of others, however) and even I can see what kind of awful ramifications a law like this would have.

Is this the new Republican strategy? To just keep wasting time and resources proposing ridiculous crap that will never pass? Have they just skipped the solutions phase and moved on to making political and religious statements? If that's all they want to do they need to go into advertising and get the fark out of government.

No, it's more like asses that fit up our vaginas - strange biology, kinda like Turducken.

Moonfisher: Is this the new Republican strategy?

Not new. Bread and circuses, and they prefer cheap circuses because the price of bread only goes so low.

Demand better circuses!

lehmac: Stay out of my pussy and focus on the economy you filthy farking elected officials rednecks.

But you need to be punished because you have a pussy.

Not only does a book of fairy tales say that your pussy's inquisitiveness and willingness to not listen to a sky wizard is the reason we're all sinners, but many of the people who would support this bill are closet homosexuals who are angry at the pussy because they would rather have a nice stiff cock, but can't because sky wizard says it's a sin, and we only have sin because of your pussy.

SO YOU GOTTA PAY, WHORE!

2011-11-22 12:17:34 PM
But when will they let me marry a gay fetus? Probably never.

2011-11-22 12:18:08 PM
PanicMan: NOVA will stop this cold. That's where all the people are.

It's not going to go through a public referendum. With a Republican majority in the House of Delegates and a split in the Senate that would be broken by the Republican Lt Governor, a Governor that I have no doubt would sign it and an AG who may very well think it the best thing since sliced bread - I can actually see the possibility of this getting through.

/hate my state sometimes

2011-11-22 12:18:18 PM
Rep. Marshall has been trying this for some time now. He's an idiotic ideologue and it's not going to pass. Also, fark him.

2011-11-22 12:19:38 PM
Can we burn all these religious fundamental nutjob idiots on a stake?

Yeah its a bit harsh but the world will be better because of it
