Newt then said "Ummmmm well they should at least hire some 8-year-olds to scrub the floors in there then" before quickly running out a side door to his waiting limo.

The gf told me that Newt was back on top of the GOP polls for sacrificial lamb.

I could care less. They are all buffoons. This man should have been ridden out of town on a rail and never allowed to return. He is so conceited that he's blind to reality.

He probably just thinks they're failing. After all, to him that is the only plausible reason they won't give him a $1mil line of credit at the bunny ranch.

Technically they seem to have said it was a mixed bag, but sure, either way Gingrich is a bit of an idiot.

I dunno...Biden's stuff is usually just stupid foot-in-mouth type shiat. This guy presents the opposite of the world deliberately and often to evoke fear.

Aww, guys leave Leroy alone. His wife is AWESOME:

I've been going thorugh hell and back trying to get a loan for a house, seem to be getting a runaround in satisfying them in paperwork. I have a buddy that never fails to throw in the "Frank Dodd Act" as the reason why. Like Gingrich, I guarantee he doesn't understand that it is to protect the taxpayers (and depositors) money as well as the small banks. Of course, Gingrich has raked in millions from Freddie and Fannie so he's richer too for it.

And yes...he is a teabagger.

On an aside, he told me that Trump was going to "make sure Obama got impeached". I was like, WTF? Yes, these people are that stupid.

Gingrich seems to have given up on populist pandering and just lurched to full-on overt support of kleptocracy as his campaign message.

A strange move..

Bigdogdaddy: I've been going thorugh hell and back trying to get a loan for a house, seem to be getting a runaround in satisfying them in paperwork.

If you have an excellent credit rating, 20% down, can supply your W-2s, previous years tax forms, account for large deposits in your bank accounts, 401l/pension information, show a stable work history and the house appraises for at or more than the loan, obtaining a loan is not difficult as long as your financial status matches the amount borrowed. And for God's sake, do not go spending money if you are approved before the closing.

Right now there are some amazing interest rates. If you are getting the runaround either switch brokers or you might not be an ideal risk for the market.

I have to ask.

Why be friends with Teabaggers? I know some Randroids, and they're annoying, but at least they're not into the culture warrior bullshiat, and they're fairly bright (math and economics degrees, mostly). Plus they have an interesting perspective and we see eye to eye on some issues.

To a man, every Tea Party member I've met is a repulsive slob with no education, usually bigoted, and dumber than a farking rock. Their idea of debate is to regurgitate crap that they heard on Fox the night before, and they can't resist inserting politics into every farking thing. When you offer them proof that they're utterly wrong, they typically retreat with a comment like "well, that's not what I've heard..." but then they'll try the same talking point in conversation a week later.

They're the kind of people who forward rumor emails to their friends and family. Think about that for a second--they lie to their friends and family to benefit a bunch of politicians that wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. If you want to be generous with your judgment, the best you can say about that is that they don't care whether or not they're truthful with their friends and family (after all, most are debunked within seconds on google).

In general, they're just the worst people alive.

I had no idea that "Community Banks" was an actual person, and that you could just ask him and get the answer from the horse's mouth, without, you know, skewing the message by getting it from an intermediate party with an agenda, for example.

Great! That really simplifies things.

Poopspasm: Why be friends with Teabaggers?

while I do avoid teabagger types as much as possible, I can think of many reasons why someone would be friends with one.

You became friends as children when neither of you gave a single thought to politics.
you became friends and didn't discuss politic for one reason or another until recently.
You became friends and both agreed political but at some point in time one of you shifted their beliefs left or right.
etc...

I like how whenever they start to scrutinize their current top candidate they find them to be so appalling that they move onto the next one, who turns out to be even worse.

Yeah, the first and third are legit. I don't think the second one applies.

We're talking about people who dress up as bald eagles for Halloween and put 90 flags on their car. Subtlety and understatement aren't their strong suits. You won't know one for long before he starts yammering about birth certificates and communism.

Wait.. There are still small community banks in existance?

Last time I went bank shopping around myt area all I had to pick from are BB&T, SunTrust, BofA and Wachovia (who just gobbled up Wells Fargo) :(

2011-11-22 08:27:18 AM
I'd be willing to argue that Community Banks are doing better in large part due to the recent high-profile incompetence of the Mega Banks, most notably BoA, not due to Dodd-Frank directly. But I won't because that would imply I'd be siding with Newt, even tangentially, which is just unacceptable.

2011-11-22 08:29:13 AM
Despite Newt being a dummy, Dodd/Frank still is a bad bill. The mere fact that it was written by one of the more corrupt legislators in the Senate should already raise a red flag.

Ok, just stop.

He doesn't actually believe this. None of the GOP actually believe what they say.

1. Faux News reports the lie.
2. The GOP base / Tea Party cheers at another "Obama's to blame / Obama screwed up headline"
3. The "news" portion of Faux gets around to reporting actual facts at 4am.
4. The candidates have already moved on to the next talking point.

They don't actually believe what they are saying, but the chattle gobble it all up.

Question:
I have a friend who always responds with something to the effect of "the government made the banks take all these loans under the threat of lawsuit". (I think he means discrimination suits, but not sure)

My suspicion, given his many other statements, is this is bullsh*t. However, I don't know how to form the google search to investigate the statement for accuracy. Is it accurate? Is it a case of the government asking to increase loans in certain communities and the banks taking on all comers instead of actually doing any checks of ability to pay? (I know of the cases of people getting loans with no jobs, but are those under the threat of gov suit?)

2011-11-22 09:03:54 AM
I am sure this will be a crushing blow to his campaign as his followers are certainly avid followers of other news sources than ones that rhyme with Cox Blues.

Doesn't matter if the banks themselves say that a policy is helping them. If Newt says it isn't, then his fans will take his word over that of the banks.
