I loved the episode when he got a new car that (supposedly) recognized voice commands.

Whatever it is it has to be better than Howard Stern.

Don't miss "Unintelligible Gibberish in the Morning"

We already have Imus in the Morning.

There has been a "Boneyard" station in that slot forever. Ozzy is just whoring his name.

Somewhere, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are muttering bitterly about having been beaten to the punch.

Yeah, the rock stations often get guest DJs to come in and do an hour of whatever. Prolly the other pop music stations, too (I seem to recall ignoring promos for them on other stations)

/the Playboy morning show is somewhat tolerable, as far as morning shows go
//haven't had a chance to check out the Spice Channel morning show yet

At this point, Ozzy is just famous for being Ozzy. Most people don't even care what he used to be. He's Ozzy Osbourne, Has he made any music worth listening to since about 1983? I don't think so. I'm not even sure, but I think '83 is being a bit generous.

He's old. He's washed up. He had a good run, but it's been over for farking decades.

You too Gene Simmons. You made zillions of dollars. You have a nice house and a pretty wife Your children aren't as farked up as Ozzy's. In fact your kids seem relatively sane. In fact you seem to have somehow missed out on the whole rock and roll experience of rotting your brain with booze and other drugs.

But Gene you haven't turned out a good album since 1977 so just shut the fark up already.

I think Ozzy will make a great radio host. The guy has endless stories about all manner of rock and roll excess and on-tour debauchery. I can't wait to hear him tell one about the flzzingl at the crrandumbum.

2011-11-21 05:30:31 PM
I would rather listen to Ozzy in the morning than any personality I have heard on the radio before. The guy is pretty damn funny, a world traveler, and has toured the world during a time of complete decadence. I'm certain he has many more interesting tales to tell than any dork posting in this thread.

No More Tears wasn't a bad album and I saw Ozzy in concert in 1997 and he rocked the place. granted, that was a while ago.

Gene Simmons has always been a tool.

Seriously. Just try and cancel. It's nearly impossible.

I saw Ozzy with Black Sabbath about 8,or 10 years ago. He sounded great, and had a lot of energy. I think he was getting off all the drugs his Dr. had him on. Gene Simmons has always been a tool.

CSB: KLOS's Mark and Brian had an Ozzy Osbourne impression contest, and when they got to the finals, they brought Ozzy himself into the studio to judge. The next day, Mark and Brian talked about how bad they felt when, after the show, Ozzy went to them and said, "I don't really sound that bad, do I?"

I remember when this guy used to scare the living daylights out of middle America! Now he is just good example of why you should probably stop doing drugs in your 30's

/Saw his first "retirement tour", the No More Yours, Tour. With Ugly Kid Joe and Faster Pussy Cat.

just pulled up No More Tears on my browser...there seems to be 2 parts to it. All I know is I'm gonna go get another beer and pull up some early Black Sabbath. I still think my earlier assessment was spot on. Ozzy is just that guy who used to be Ozzy and that guy that made Black Sabbath rock. He's a bad father and has stupid kids.

I feel I should know what that is, but I don't.

I am now degenerated into a Dio Fest now....things digressed from Ozzy to Dio.....I'm sure I will have a full report on how Mr. Crowley is treated by both of them soon.......spolier: I think Dio is better

Knara: //haven't had a chance to check out the Spice Channel morning show yet

*SNERT*

"Sweet Leaf" came up on the ol' iPod today.

Not the awesomest lyrics (read: they're dumb) but a righteous sludge-riff that has a freak-out in the middle.

In short, the rest of the band is awesome in it.

2011-11-21 06:41:03 PM
Somehow, I doubt Ozzy went to the station and begged for a job. I imagine it was more the station going to Sharon with an offer, and then her nagging the everliving piss out of him for weeks straight until he agreed just to get away from her for a little while each morning.

Thankfully here in the SF bay area we already have a morning show with a washed up rock star. And you don't even need Sirius!

Can't be any worse than the giant flaming turd that Jim Norton's Obsessed was. Sixty minutes of douchetastic whining about hating bands or not knowing anything about the bands he was playing.

So is this going to be another single band format channel? You know, to go with the all Pearl Jam station, the all Elvis station, the all Springsteen station, the all Grateful Dead station, the all Jimmy Buffett station...

Probably they'll rotate out some other single-band channel to make way for his, assuming it is actually a "channel" and not a "radio show" like other celebs have.

There's only a couple of single-band channels that are permanent, the rest are (I suspect) leased out for promotion by an artist/group in anticipation of a big tour or album release.

I'd be okay with a show. The Boneyard is one of the channels I listen to most so I really don't want it to go away.

/still burned from when Punk became AC/DC Radio and then never came back after that ended.

Soooooo glad I let that subscription subside.

/I think the rave channel had the same Paul Van Dyk song on loop, all the time.

No, it was a rave channel. They were different songs, they just all sound the same.

They won't ditch the Boneyard. The format doesn't overlap anything else (Octane doesn't do classic metal, Hair Nation doesn't play anything harder than Motley Crue, etc).

"Punk" always had a problem with being overlapped by things like Faction or whatever the college/indie band channels were.

/i seemed to like Sirius Hardattack as opposed to Liquid Metal, and Buzzsaw better than Boneyard, but, eh

2011-11-21 11:45:49 PM
Great. Half of the show is going to be Ozzy fending off photo attempts from Jim Norton.

2011-11-22 01:35:45 PM
And all the professional radio hosts they blew out of the XM channels during the "merger" are still floating out there, available. Matt the Cat can't get a job on the air, but this douche can? Content is dead. All that's left is mediocre celebrity. Nobody blows through money faster for absolutely no return than SiriusXM.

but... what about that horrid early 90's-era production??
