Probably doesn't need you as much as you need them.

Needs you to GTFO.

Maslow would like a word with you.

I kind of want to know, in her opinion, how did she think this would turn out? What did she expect when a pseudo military outfit was sent in against some college students who were speaking out and supporting an issue they feel strongly about?

Don't worry honey. They won't fire you for this action, they'll fire you for paying that rent-a-cop 110,000 a year.

UC davis needs this coont like it needs a hole in their collective heads. The chancellor is an evil Harpy Skeletor that chose to allow an assault on peacuful students. Shame on her.

..and she does not sound "Merican!!!! SHE TOOK OUR JORBS!!

/jk..
//or am I?

There isn't a single irreplaceable person at any university or college in this country. Not the football coach, not the dean of students, not the president, not the chairman of the board of trustees.

There are people that will do a better job than other people, yes. There are people who are truly great at their jobs and will make a massive difference in the running of the school, yes.

But you, Linda Kateh, you are not one of them. You have lost the trust of the students, the faculty, and probably the alumni. You are actively damaging the school by not resigning.

I guarantee there's a dean somewhere who can do your job in the interim, but right now, you're the person who let hundreds of students get assaulted by one of your employees.

WTF Indeed: Don't worry honey. They won't fire you for this action, they'll fire you for paying that rent-a-cop 110,000 a year.

She has to pay him that much, thanks to collective bargaining.

2011-11-21 04:13:16 PM
Here's an interesting factoid: Linda Katehi graduated from the National Technical University of Athens in 1977. Now, undergrad studies last 4 years in Greece, meaning that she probably began studying at the university in 1973. You'll never guess what happened (new window) at her university in November of '73...

The university needs you to STFU and GTFO!

UC Davis needs you like their students need pepper spray in the face.

You know what we need? Another UC Davis thread!

Perhaps the Senate will give the Chancellor special wartime powers.

What self-important, entitled twat. Fark her.

2011-11-21 04:37:58 PM
That pepper spray looked like the most lame-ass pepper spray ever. The cop didn't even need to shield his eyes from it. If you listen to the video, the woman recording it is screaming in more agony than the people getting sprayed.

There is certainly no reason for the chancellor to resign. The chancellor didn't spray; she gets to stay.

"the university needs me"

Yes, they need you for people TO POOP ON.

They need a lightning rod to attract all the criticism of the campus police situation so that by eventually firing you will seem to address the whole mess.

One can only hope that a family member will pepper-spray her in the face as she sits down to dinner this Thanksgiving...

UC Davis doesn't have a storied sports program.

She wasn't advocating the selling of trophies for tattoos, hiding a child molestation scandal, or stuffing thousands of dollars in suitcase for prospective recruits.

She won't go until the rent a cops start spraying her.

2011-11-21 04:40:52 PM
Sounds like my old boss how he would tell us how important he was and how he could have 30 people to replace each of us that would be happy to work with him. Three days after he got in trouble for sexual harassment he was gone. Funny thing is he tried to get a job with the company again last year.

Free Speech != Carte Blanche to do whatever you want.

You may have noticed that that Tea Party morons didn't have these problems. Not because of their message, but because of their behavior... what they didn't do.

If OWS wants credibility the adults in the crowd need to step up.

And the ACLU needs to be filing suit against cops who over step.

I'll run UC Davis for a while. How much worse could I do it? I'll take 14% less compensation than her too.

When I lived in Athens, the November 17th group was very active. In a bad way.

Makes for an interesting dynamic if she was there at that time.

It was weak pepper spray? lol... that's the worst defense of what happened I've seen yet.

None of the above statements has anything to do with spraying pepper spray in the faces of seated, peaceful protesters.

I'm guessing she sided with the junta.

I'm a student at McGill University in Montreal, where we had similar shiat go down not too long ago: Link (new window)

As it turns out, our principal, who has recently undergone a similar raking-over-the-public-coals, just so happens to be a senior advisor to Katehi: Link (new window)

Seems like a very interesting coincidence...

Perhaps the anti-terror laws in the USA, combined with the arming of security guards, and the demands of insurance policy companies, are what led to the spraying. In other words, nobody will claim responsibility, and this is the status quo in the USA, regardless of who is or isn't the Chancellor of UC-Davis. In another-other words, firing her will probably change nothing. It punishes her for making statements that, quite correctly, said the security detail followed their training and mandate perfectly.

I imagine she had faith in the system, which is hilarious and sad at the same time.

Free Speech != Carte Blanche to do whatever you want.

Sitting on a sidewalk != Violent resistance justifying the use of force and chemical agents by law enforcement

Anyone who can't figure that out for themselves just might be a fascist boot licker.

And the ACLU needs to be filing suit against cops who over step.

Agreed, but especially in this incident's case:

The DA needs to be filing criminal charges against the pepper spraying cop.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

Was 17N actually formed by uprising students, or did it just take its name from the event?
