One of the better facial reconstructions I've seen, to tell the truth. Looks a bit waxy, a bit out of shape, and it's not very resembling, but at least it doesn't look stitched together by a black smith using a leather awl.

Progress seems to be made by cosmetic reconstruction and in half a century they may be able to rebuild a face so that a casual observer will not be able to detect the difference.

I wonder if they couldn't apply some of the techniques being used to craft more life-like and less uncanny robotic faces. One clever idea I saw recently projects the face on the inside of a translucent mask. Hard to do with a human being, but if you had a flexible and skin like material such as the "wearable computers" that we are constantly hearing about, it would be one way to get the fine detail of a human face and human emotions without a transplant. I expect a lot of people with image problems would love a fully-programmable and update-able face.

Not too bad. Better than Lion lady Wildenstein.

They are getting better with each and every transplant.

Oh yeah. No subby, I did not stare. Having lived with a handicapped step daughter for 13 years before she passed and interacting with clients at her rehabilitation center, I don't think twice about the physical features that you I.

I do stare at the stupid shiat people do to themselves on purpose though.

Headspikes anyone?

honestly if I saw that lady at the supermarket I wouldn't look twice at her. She obviously isn't a beauty queen but she is far from being hideous.

She looks much better than I was expecting. Nice to see plastic surgeons making someone's life better.

It's a shame you can't look at what a beautiful job was done then. Sometimes, you can stare in amazement and appreciation.

Wow. What an awful thing to have happen to you. I'm glad she's on the up and up.

The chimp was not in a cage, asshat. Her friend treated it like it was a dog.

They gave Jane Goodall a doctorate for her chimp research. Meanwhile, Kate Winslet has only one Academy Award. You have to blow the right monkey, so to speak.

She looked a lot better before the chimp performed surgery.

Considering what surgeons had to work with, they did a great job. It's a shame Charna had to experience this - the owner should have been the one with the face ripped off for being a dumbass.

2011-11-21 04:19:28 PM
Perhaps the doctors could give her daughter gigantic boobies as consolation. She doesn't seem to need any face work yet.

Wasn't this when the asshat lawyer representing the woman who owned the chimp made the claim that the victim should only get workers compensation since she worked for her? I'd like to know how well that strategy worked.

Must stay away from angry chimps.

FTA: The good news: doctors have told her that she might be able to try a hand transplant again in as little as a year.

Retard-strong chimp ripped her hands off too? Fuuuuuhhhhh.
I'm getting a mental image of the arm wrestling scene in The Fly.

Last I saw, she was denied workman's comp because the State said she wasn't on duty at the time of the incident.

I wonder how hard it would be to fight a chimp. From what I have seen of chimps fighting each other it seems like wouldn't be that hard to discourage them from any serious damage. The only way it would be able to rip off your face and hands is if you didn't fight back.

2011-11-21 04:34:52 PM
i hope the owner of the monkey is paying her medical bills! I am glad that she is doing well and I am amazed at the advances made in the medical field.

Dude it is seriously tough to fight off a chimp . They have superhuman strength . Trust me I know from experience .

Seriously? When fighting an opponent as strong and resilient as a chimp, another chimp may not actually walk away blind, handless and without genitals. Humans are farking pitiful. That would be like one of us fighting an Olsen Twin made out of overcooked carrots.

Chimpanzees are genuinely 2-3 times stronger than a human of the same weight. Plus, they're mean farkers - their teeth go for the victim's face while hands rip at the genitals. I'd rather face a mountain lion than a chimp.

The owner of the chimp died a while back. The victim's family sued her for a huge sum, and I never heard anything past that.
