A tipping thread AND a religion thread all in one?

You know what's better than money? Food without spit in it. Good luck eating at that restaurant again, you sanctimonious douchebag.

If you have ever waited tables for any length of time you have gotten several of those(or similar). Although they made me shake my head in disbelief, I don't remember my blood boiling. Now jackasses dine and dashing...

If only the photo in the article showed that the customer also downed a Bud Light with his/her dinner...

Did someone dare to leave coins as change?

Oh look, a Consumerist article about whiny cockbags.

The "never been more atheist in my life" was an excellent touch.

I can't stop laughing at the last part.

2011-11-21 03:29:18 PM
nothing new about this at all.
carry on.

clovis69: Did someone dare to leave coins as change?

Worse. They left only unsubstantiated promises of eternal salvation.

2011-11-21 03:29:47 PM
I'd rather not get a tip than that POS.

2011-11-21 03:29:52 PM
Yea, I don't think saving up for a video game is helping your case there, author.

Proselytize WITH a tip.

Sometimes the best reward is a job well done.

Why? Why do this? Are you that cheap? Are you a dick and think it is funny? Do you think you are being a good Christian and spreading God's word?

2011-11-21 03:31:50 PM
That's a pretty douchebaggy thing to do.

2011-11-21 03:31:59 PM
I'm pretty sure that's counterfeiting. Its OK to have fake money, but the moment you try to pass it off as real money, you're a criminal.

2011-11-21 03:31:59 PM
The person who left it likely truly believed that it was far better than money and the recipient would be completely overjoyed when they found babby jebus.

Religious people... nuggin' futters.

Just remember who did it to you, spread the word locally, and guarantee the idiot service from hell the next time they appear.

You have to admit it's a very effective way to send a message about religion.

Just another crappy tip, man. Onward and upward.

2011-11-21 03:33:04 PM
Is this the thread where waiters think that the customers have to subsidize their wages, regardless of the level of service, because they suck at negotiating with their boss?

Tips should be reserved for better than expected service, not just because you managed to write down a order.

Back in college I helped a friend move into a new house. At the end of the day, he handed me a folded $50. I protested, saying it was too much, but he insisted. I was really freakin' poor at the time, so it was a real windfall, and I thanked him accordingly.

After I got home, I took out the bill & it turned out to be one of these pieces of jackassery. "Blood boil" is a pretty good description.

And here I was thinking there wasn't a douchier tip to leave than an actual Chick tract. At least the damn Chick tract doesn't look like a nice tip. It looks like it was purposefully designed to drive people AWAY from Christianity by inducing blind rage and monumental disgust.

2011-11-21 03:35:30 PM
Even Mark Twain complained about people foisting religious tracts on the unsuspecting.

But the fake ten-spot is a new one on me. People left Jack Chick comics for me back in the day, but they usually came with a few bucks as well. Never got totally stiffed on those, and I find Chick comics to be hilarious.

Drunk douchebags who let their children disrupt the entire restaurant? They can never tip enough. I'd rather have a stiff than a couple of rednecks and their indulgent smiles as other diners send them dagger stares.

/altho, if they are drunk enough you can always add another bottle of wine to the bill

Call the secret service and have the guy arrested for printing phony greenbacks.

Also some company decided to litter my city with fake twenties that had an ad on the back of them. As broke person it was super annoying. I think they got into a lot of sh*t over it.

Here's a tip...

PSYCHE!!! It's BETTER than a tip- IMMA PRAYIN 4U!

Huh... it lists "www.moneytract.com", but I get a squatter site there. Evidently they tried to pay for their domain name with John 3:16's.

A bud light, in a can, sitting next to the meal.

That tip is an invite to an ass kickin'.
Middle aged church ladies are the worst to wait on, particularly the Southern ones.

Tipping and religious wank aside... that's a douchebag move, big time.

khhsdude: Why? Why do this? Are you that cheap? Are you a dick and think it is funny? Do you think you are being a good Christian and spreading God's word?

The people who do this are cheap, and they found a way to rationalize that they're not actually cheap but doing the right thing by using religion as an excuse for not tipping.

2011-11-21 03:37:10 PM
I hate tipping. Period. Put the freakin' service charge on the bill or add it into the cost of the food. If a service provider goes well over and above, I'll leave a few bucks (or more depending on what they've done to help). But damnit, I'm tired of companies that don't pay their employees a fair wage and then expect the customers to make up the difference.

As someone who HAS worked a tipped job in the transportation industry, I can tell you that tipping has nothing to do with the level of service, but with the attitudes of the individual customers. I could pick up a limo full of passengers, treating all of them with the same courtesy, take them all to the same hotel, unload all of their luggage, and getting different tips from all of them.

Also, if you want to put a dent into keeping Social Security working and increase payroll and income tax receipts, eliminate tipping. If you think that cash all gets reported, you are crazy. Most people report only what they need to keep the IRS off their backs. Plus, the employer gets out of paying their payroll taxes. It is a scam all the way around and it stinks.

The fake tip gag was likely not even perped by a Christian... these things are gags. If the person WAS Christian, shame on them for stealing from the server.

This is new? When I bussed tables, they used to do this with a $2 bill on one side and the Jesus stuff on the other. The waitresses would go up to a bus boy, tell them they were doing a great job keeping their tables clean and either slip it in to the shirt pocket or slip it in to the pants pocket. This was especially rewarding if the waitress was a milf hot waitress and the bus boy was 16 year old virgin and the waitress leaded in real close and said "Harry. I really appreciate the way you've been clearing my tables tonight. Just keep it up, tiger." Phony bills gets pushed in to pants pocket, squeeze, release.

Two hours later, bus boy remembers the money.

And, uh, there were other bus boys named Harry.

/J Chick tracs with "This is the best tip of your life" written on them

That's all fine and dandy, except that the employer gets a $5.12 tip credit/hour (at least here in NC). They can pay as little as $2.13 an hour, including the time when you're opening/closing and not waiting on customers or accepting tips. I always tip, and try to tip at least 15-20% unless they just outright sucked. Blame the system and get the laws changed if you want to pay less for your meal.

2011-11-21 03:38:03 PM
He thought it was a pretty good joke until he turned it over and saw the religious text and went FFFUUUUUUU. I dunno, maybe that makes it an even better joke.

2011-11-21 03:38:09 PM
Lol. I would have found christian hypocrisy better than a tip any day.

Of course, I don't work at the Waffle House, so I never saw anything like that...Though I will say, no decent tipper ever puts the big bill on top.

Pulling a trick like that is instant qualification for the "jerk ex-friend" category. Normally, such a feat can only be achieved by stabbing, stealing from one's apartment, or stealing one's significant other.

Besides, everyone knows the proper way to thank friends for helping you is all the beer and pizza/subs they can eat for dinner.
