Burns: [recoils in mock horror]
Oooh, the Germans are mad at me. I'm so scared! Oooh, the Germans!
[hiding behind Smithers] Uh oh, the Germans are going to get me!
Horst: Stop it!
Man 2: Stop, sir.
Burns: Don't let the Germans come after me.
Oh no, the Germans are coming after me.
Man 2: Please stop the `pretending you are scared' game, please.
Horst: Stop it! Stop it!
Burns: [brief pause, then resumes]
No! They're so big and strong!
Man 2: Stop it.
Horst: Stop it, Mr. Burns.
Man 2: Please stop pretending you are scared of us, please, now.
Burns: Oh, protect me from the Germans! The Germans...

All I gotta say is British PM Cameron better wake up and fight this, and the whole of England him. This is nothing less than erosion of national sovereign ties and subjugation to some political monster the likes of which hasn't been seen since the so-called Holy Roman Empire.

This. Seems to me if you are asking Germany to bail out the whole of Europe, you've kind of put yourselves in their hands...and that's never been a problem in the past, am I right?

However, Germany still hasn't re-capped their banks. And when they do they will actually be worse off than even the US.

Germany has been the biggest winner of countries using the Euro, and now that the Euro is as good as done, they will lose that largess and competitive advantage they got with it.

So apparently keeping your own financial house in order while the others bet their shirts at the roulette table is "taking over Europe" now.

If you can't farking run your country, I guess you deserve to have someone else do it for you?

Faith Logic Passion:

All I gotta say is British PM Cameron better wake up and fight this, and the whole of England him. This is nothing less than erosion of national sovereign ties and subjugation to some political monster the likes of which hasn't been seen since the so-called Holy Roman Empire.

The so-called Holy Roman Empire for most of its duration was a "paper tiger": the Emperor directly controlled only the territory he himself owned in full, and he had to contend with a few minor kings and literally dozens of feudal lords (barons, counts, etc.). Luther's Reformation and the Thirty Years' War show how that "imperialism" worked in practice -- i.e. it mostly didn't. To get anything done the Emperor has to borrow money, tax and conscript his peasants yet again, hire mercenaries, and beg the other feudal lords to do the same on his side (instead of against him).

As empires go the HRE and its successor the Austro-Hungarian Empire was actually pretty benign as those things go: for one thing they (and their neighbor the German Empire "tolerated" Jews so well that in War War I many Jews from the Russian Empire went over to the other side hoping their lands would be freed by the Central Powers or at least taken over by them and run more humanely. Ironically in retrospect, during WW1 and for ~100 years before the German-speaing countries were much less antisemitic than the Tsar's domains, and treated their peasants a little better too.

I'm afraid you'll have to pick another historical analogy for your Big Scary Threat.

And by the way, I disagree strongly with a few of the Zionist regime's practices (though it's true they're nowhere near as bad as the Nazis even before WW2), but the easiest way to piss me off is to start threatening "the Jews." It's nothing to me personally because I'm a goyish atheist who at the moment doesn't even know any Jews in person (and I'm not going to go Jew-hunting all over Lexington KY to find the couple dozen I've heard are here to remedy that lack), but because every single movement that targeted the Jewish people was pretty shiatty for its "own" people too. When conditions got bad enough that the masses were about to revolt some genius would come up with the idea of blaming the Jews instead, which would accomplish very little for the poor Gentiles themelves. Besides, hating on people because of their ethnicity is just plain wrong, even when they're sassenachs (new window).

Reading some of the other articles on that side it appears that these people are indeed some special sort of crazy.

About every third editorial is about the evil Germans taking over the world and the rest is split between biblical prophecy and gems like "The U.S. Constitution Is Over 95 Percent Destroyed!"

All in all it some sort of slightly more sane and literate version of WorldNutDaily Even the titles of the books they sell hint towards a kinder more coherent form of insanity than WND. These people are still convinced that the world is wrong about pretty much anything, out to get them and will end soon, that Christian theocracy is the key to all that is good and Muslim theocracy despite its superficial differences is evil, but they are not violently, foaming at the mouth, hatemongering bastards about it. As religious nuts go they are a step up.

Loki-L: As religious nuts go they are a step up.

Read Christ's Words then compare that to the actions of any group and that'll tell you how Christian they really are.
If you think all are the same, then either refuse to learn or just assume that's how it is.

Suede head: The Germans want to take over? Good. Let's have the adults in charge for a change. Germany has done one hell of a job in the last few decades.

This is more akin to a pimp deciding them biatches ain't working hard enough.

Germany had already taken over Europe with the Euro to begin with. The other countries were suckered into all sorts of trade fantasies fueled by "hegemony", but the Euro really was a consolidation of central banks to an "independent" central bank analogous to our Federal Reserve. . . that happens to be German. No other bank has the authority to print Euros. Like many other things, the fall of the Euro was perfectly predicted by Modern Monetary Theory without fanfare.

As the other countries' economies grew, so did their demand for money. Which only this German bank can print. Much like how America enjoyed a ridiculously opulent advantage by being the world's reserve currency, Germany was able to exchange resources, goods and services for paper. Unfortunately for them, they overplayed their hand. The old adage, "If you owe the bank $10 million, you own the bank," is true. In bankrupting every country that lacks natural resources to export, Germany has put the entire Eurozone in a precarious position -- they must either bail them out by meeting the backlogged Euro demand with no strings attached (which dilutes their wealth), or loan them the Euros with harsh austerity conditions (that will only make things worse). There is no negative feedback mechanism. Getting the prostitutes hooked on drugs to control them is one thing, but if you've beaten them unconscious now you're the one without income.
