What?! No Excitebike? Come on man.

I think the headline for the older thread said it all. Imagine the crawl for this movie: "President Ronnie has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?"

2011-11-21 08:57:53 AM
Bad Dudes would be a money machine in today's climate. Two strapping military men going off to rescue Ronald Reagan? Throw in some evil brown people and the Tea Partiers would be lining up around the block.

I was thinking about games I loved in the 80s and River City Ransom came to mind. River City Ransom couldn't be made into a movie in today's climate. Heck, it probably wouldn't have been imported to the US in today's climate.

Two words.

Cadillacs. Dinosaurs.

Why do you think that? There is a far larger market for niche japanese games now then back then. Heck, we've had newly released beat em up games lately, a genre that was all but dead till very recently.

Contra? They would have to make sure they include the spread-weapon upgrade.

Just make Ready Player One into a movie so I can get all my nostalgia in one film instead of ten.

"In a world where two military men must hide their true feelings for each other long enough to slaughter Arabs and rescue the president, comes a movie of violence, xenophobia and homoeroticism. But will Ronnie survive long enough to have the Tea Party Patriots blow him once again? "

I'm still waiting for them to make a Tron movie. Because that would be SOOOOOOOO coooollllll.

Final Fight.

Just film a 90 minute fight scene in one take.

Diss: Oregon Trail?

Won't be that long of a movie, everyone will be dead of dysentery in half an hour. At least that's how I remember it.

What about Time Killers? It'd be like Mortal Kombat but at the end they cut Death's head off with a chainsaw!

My favorite Time Killers memory was some dude storming off in a huff after he'd chopped both my arms off and I beat him with my head. My girlfriend was watching, so it was especially sweet.

I just remember playing as the chainsaw guy, figuring out the combo for "Jump in the air, spin around, and chop the other guy's head off"
I beat the game in 15 minutes with that combo, even Death. LOL

Sometimes I think I'm the only one who played Battle of Olympus. With all the historical fantasy movies that have been made lately, I think it would make a good movie. Seriously, ancient Greece, hydras, etc.

Oh great! I missed out on the last retro game thread....I wanted to ask you Farkers, because your'e so knowlegeable. I've been looking forever for a game from my childhood. It was a dungeon crawler arcade RPG. But the thing that set this apart from other RPGs out there is that one of the character classes was Ninja. They had it in my local Boardwalk USA but I never knew the name of it, this was one of the games they tucked in the back away from the MK and SF II cabinets...if anyone knows what I'm talking about by my extremely vague description I would love to know the name of the game. Thanks.

Dragon's Lair was done, at least as a cartoon.

Dungeons and Dragons: Shadows over Mysteria? There was another D&D game but I can't remember the name.

Wizardry had a ninja class which was available later in the game. Talking about that?

If you can add a few more specifics that could help.

No, this game wasn't a side scroller it was First person. Masterstuff mentioned Wizardry and that looks the most like the game I remember, but the graphics were 16 bit.

That list is pure unreadable failure without Space Ace.

I've been thinking that for years. In fact, I played it again recently on an emulator. Still a damn good game. Worthy of Zelda status, I think. Didn't really catch on in a big way, sadly.
