Someone needs to learn that editing is a thing.

The dog is smarter than the protesters.

2011-11-20 07:05:03 PM
The dog was later pepper sprayed and dragged off to the pound.

I'm REALLY surprised the cop let the dog come so close. Then let it caper around his horse like that. He had no idea the dog wouldn't just turn around and nip the horse.

Then he would have shot it.

2011-11-20 07:39:41 PM
Well then, I guess that makes police oppression of protesting civilians OK.

...gets pepper sprayed.

Wow, it's amazing. It's like if cops don't escalate a situation then relations between the police and the public are civil. But how can that be?

That was really cute.

Call that a dog? Looks more like the bed bugs at the Times Square Marriott.

That is one chilled out horse.

Has anyone mentioned how surprised they are that the cop didn't pepper-spray the dog?

LOL. If the horse had suddenly chomped down on the dog and ate it... that would have been the funniest video ever. Shocking and horrifying, yes, but mostly hilarious.

And then we could have an inevitably-epic "police horse brutality" thread.

I wonder how long it takes those fat cops to get on those horses....

Probably not that long if you use one of these...

Damn. I feel sorry for the first horse. His rider looks heavy.

Cute dog though.

Seriously! Man, someone needs to invent a way to either stop a video in the middle of it, or some way to close a browser window. I can't tell you how many Rick Astley videos I've had to watch all the way to the end.

There's a time and place for everything, lady..
What would have happened if the horse threw his rider, or just took a bite out of the dog?
Effing annoying.

The title is "Adorable dog plays with NYPD police horse on Wall Street", what were you expecting? Did you keep watching the video thinking there would be some big explosion at the end or something?

Those police horses are incredibly well trained animals, I'm pretty sure the rider knew that there wasn't going to be a reaction from the horse. The girl that comes in near the end of the video and starts petting the horse made me giggle, that was me as a kid, I couldn't pet enough farking horses, still can't.

The only animal with an asshole on it's back.

Really though, that video was a nice change of pace in comparison to most of the stuff we've been seeing lately.

My old neighbor Bill is a member of the Erie County Sheriff mounted division here in Western NY. He's a pretty nice guy. The mounted thing was just part time though. He was a school teacher as his day job.

My out of work vocation is with mentally ill chemically addicted guys, though not all of the guys I work with are mentally ill. It was amazing that Bill could 'just tell' who the felons were.

I've got to say as well, that in the past 20 years, of all the cops I've 'interacted' with I've only run into one dick cop. I give him a little slack 'cause he was new & being observed by a boss on a DUI check. But not too much slack.

Prior to those 20 years though, I wasn't living right & was fair game. Not a fan of the law where law is just busy bodies trying to tell you what to do, but there's a difference between that and not living right. Course at the time, I didn't think I wasn't living right.

/Bill was big guy, so he generally rode Percherons.

Pigs can't fly but they can ride a horse.

Fish in a Barrel: That is one chilled out horse.

Most horses are but police horses are trained to deal with a LOT of distractions. My brother owns a bunch of horses (6 or 7, I can't remember) and they're more like giant dogs than anything else. Last time I visited, I popped the trunk to take out my suitcase & they all came running over. Apparently, they associate that noise w/my brother unloading the feed. After sniffing around the trunk for a bit, they all looked at me disconsolately because there was no food.

Those horses are more chill than I would ever be in that situation. What is most surprising to me is that the horse never kicks the snot out of all those people petting its rear end. Most horses when confined like that are a steel trap ready to snap off.

2011-11-21 05:58:34 PM
All police horses are desensitized to sound, bright lights etc, so as not to freak out in situations. I photograph a lot of horse shows, and as a lot aren't desensitized, and there are kids riding them, I don't use a flash.

There's gotta be a joke here somewhere. It starts like this:
A dog, a horse, and a pig go to a demonstration.....

Bullshiat! According to Orwells Animal Farm, animal do not get along at all.

Maybe it's not cops escalating situations?
