Latest polls have Gingrich riding high while Cain tumbles to Perry numbers.
I guess it'll take a few days for Republicans to remember why they didn't want this guy in the first place.

Think we'll see Santorum bubbling up next?

this one is even better:

Newt:

"I am for people, individuals -- exactly like automobile insurance -- individuals having health insurance and being required to have health insurance."

The Fox News Sunday panel pointed it out, with Brit Hume leading the charge.

Newt Gingrich is now too liberal for the GOP. It's almost surreal.

I picked up a copy of Forbes recently which I hadn't done in years and was amazed at what a naked display of wealth-worship it is. And full of right wing claptrap like an editorial from the guy who wrote up Gov. Perry's tax plan all about how the rich deserve more through a flat tax or something.

Yet they seem to have a sense of when someone is in their group (wealthy or ultra-wealthy) who really shouldn't be. A sort of gawd who invited him reaction. I think Gingrich is in that sub group, or at least that's the way they see it.

Nothing in new earth-shattering revelations there. But people usually don't like to say such things about Newt.. afraid of a backlash, perhaps.

Eventually Republicans are just going to have to bite the bullet and accept Romney, and that will be a bitter, bitter day for them.

Well the REAL Ronald Reagan (not the made up one Republicans talk about today) would be too liberal for today's GOP.

I'm still convinced they won't do that, even if it means four more years of Obama.

1. Nominate someone other than Romney
2. Redirect efforts to re-take the Senate
3. ???
4. Force Obama to shut down the government, after there's not a budget for the third consecutive year.
5. Elect the fat guy from New Jersey in 2016.

I believe that's the only rational choice. Tea Partiers should definitely nominate 9-9-9 or FrothBoy (or even CrazyEyes) and run HARD against the party-line GOP. I think they should try to siphon off as much of the fundie Christian vote as possible. Heck, since most of the country self-identifies as Christian, they'd have a great shot!

Nothing new there, but a biased hyperbolic article. "Practically spooning Pelosi"?? Yea, the author is an unbiased observer for sure. Evangelicals have already started giving him a pass on his divorces because *gasp* they believe in redemption and a persons ability to change for the better. He made 1.6 million over what, 8 years, consulting for Fannie and Freddy? Wow, that's some huge graft there Lou.
Supports the individual mandate? Umm, slight difference, Newts would only begin with people who make $50,000 a year or more, Obama's includes everyone.

Oh and cheating on your wife was made a non-issue back in the 90's and is not remotely as negative as sexual harassment so trying to make 2 divorces (one of which was asked for by his then wife, you know, the one who's still living but supposedly he had sign papers on her death bed). None of these attacks are going to sink him. The negative research peeps will have to come up with better, and considering Newts been a national public figure for a few decades now will make that job more difficult than it was for other GOP front runners.

/Really do hope Newt wins the primary, because I would love to see him debate Obama - would not guarantee a Newt Win but the debates would be fantastic.

I told this story in another thread, but it deserves a retread:

Back in my bartending days I had Newt as a customer. Though I dislike him, I don't let personal politics affect my job. So everything was going great; we even briefly and pleasantly discussed and a few non-political things. Then something unbelievably minor - so minor that I forget what it was - set him off. Perhaps the lemon twist in his sazerac wasn't exactly as he liked it or I accidentally gave him three cubes of ice in the scotch when he had asked for two. Again, I can't recall. But this overgrown hemmorhoid threw a full-on tantrum, like a child would. Most people would just say, "hey bartender [insert request]."

This man is the biggest, most elastic asshole I have ever met. And as a bartender, I had met thousands of jerks. This is before we even start talking about his policies, which are equally abhorrent.

CanisNoir: (one of which was asked for by his then wife, you know, the one who's still living but supposedly he had sign papers on her death bed).

Yes she wanted a divorce because Newt was cheating on her and treating her like crap while she was going through cancer!!

Amazing spin.

Corvus: This guy had to resign just because he sent pictures of him in his underwear. Why did he have to do that again?

Umm, apples to oranges dude. As far as I know Wiener didn't resign because he was cheating on his wife, you know, just like you pointed out in your post. He was sending inappropriate pictures of himself to a young girl. Politics is a dirty business and he was forced out by his own party at a time when they were shellacked in elections and the media was having a field day. Had it happened at another point in the cycle, he may very well have survived.

Funny how the only believe in redemption for Republicans but for Democrats they pull up shiat from decades to attack them.

That is a lie. The story he was sending pictures to under age girls was something a Republican made up and people found out later was a lie!!

You are such a liar. Who was this "young girl"? Tell me. Because you are lying.

And during the Monica Lewinski scandal and ensuing impeachment, Newt, though married, was getting head in his official office from a young intern. Unlike Clinton, he divorced his wife and married the intern, which may or may not be better behavior, but the hypocrisy was startling even by a DC yardstick.

Gingrich has also repeatedly suggested that NASA could pay for itself if it offered zero-G sex tourism, and that men are ill-suited to desk jobs because they get the urge to go hunt giraffes, and that he could "solve the orphan problem" by giving every orphan a one-time gift of a laptop computer. And he thinks menstruation is an infection. And he's recommended taxing foreigners (a good trick), using the military to force Canada into more favorable trade deals, and preventing registered Democrats from being allowed to vote.

He's also the worst kind of anything-for-money lobbyist. Jack Abramoff, of all people, has repeatedly said Newt is a corrupt SOB.

He's an idiot who convinces dumb people that he's smart, and an asshole who can't convince much of anyone he isn't an asshole. He thinks child labor laws cause poverty. If you meet someone who admires him, you can safely think less of them.

On May 27, 2011, using his public Twitter account, Weiner sent a link to a photo on yfrog[9][16] of his erect penis concealed by boxer briefs to Gennette Cordova, a 21-year-old female college student from Seattle, Washington, who was following him on the social media website.

On June 6, Breitbart posted a cropped, shirtless picture of Weiner obtained from a second woman on the Internet[26][27] identified as 26-year-old Meagan Broussard of Texas,[18] and said Weiner had sent more pictures of himself, including at least one that was sexually graphic.[

Well, Newt is just such a flaming colostomy bag. Hard to keep quiet about him.

Gingrich and Romney both have souls. The difference is that Romney's is bland and weak, whereas Gingrich's is foul, smarmy, and stupid.

2011-11-20 04:03:37 PM
Sounds like the DNC is trying to pick the GOP candidate.

Newt Gingrich is only a conservative to those in the very extreme left. The video he did pushing Global Warming with Nancy Pelosi is bound to pop up soon in a campaign ad....effectively killing his campaign

The only candidate the GOP could run that could actually beat Obama is Ron Paul...who actually has the anti-war cred that Obama is now lacking....and Paul is the only one wanting to do away with NAFTA, GATT, Communist China, etc...which will attract labor voters.

Romney has no chance of beating Obama. Southern religious conservatives will never vote for a Mormon...never. Without the religious conservatives, the GOP cannot win

The Democrats could nominate Jesus, and would still lose Alabama and Mississippi.

Any Republican will sweep the South. Romney starts to compete in PA, WI, MI, and probably wins OH, and IN easily.

So it's ok for Newt to cheat on multiple wives with many women but for showing a picture of you in your underwear to 20+ year olds you should be forced to resign?

I kind of think you found out you were wrong and now you are spinning your huge mistake.

You are so full of shiat it's hilarious.

The Republicans are aware of all of Gingrich's flaws. But they're in love with this week's not-Romney, so accept them, and then pretend they aren't there, because that's the price of admission. (new window)

The problem with Paul is that most voters are smart enough to see through his schtick -- because you don't have to be very bright to know that when someone explains their solution to a problem, they actually have to explain how it's even related to the problem.

That's something Paul simply has never been able to do.
