geez, the damn country invented the language, you'd think they'd know how to speak/write it.

FTFA
"An elderly grandfather has been hailed a hero after fighting off a knife wielding robber at the petrol station where he worked armed only with a bottle of wine."

"He threatening the female cashier with the large-bladed knife and demanded she fill a blue carrier bag with cash."

a friend of mine was working in back at a fast food late at night when a robber came in scaring the clerk, when bert ran out front with a large knife and impaled the robbers hand pinning him to the counter. robber went to jail, bert got fired, then re-hired as manager two months later.

He must have been a pirate.

Pirate > Ninja

Sorry, Subby, but I am SO going to have to borrow your phrase. It's too wonderful:

"In Vino, Testiculis"

2011-11-20 09:27:33 AM
Latin fail. Should be: "In vino, testiculi"

I bet that robber was thinking "leave me alone, let me go home - let me go home and start over" yeah.

Obviously a very heavy wine, particularly useful in hand-to-hand combat. Not a wine for drinking, a wine for avoiding.

I've worked armed only with a bottle of wine many times, and I'm not even elderly or a grandfather yet. Whatchu complainin bout?

"He threatening the female cashier with the large-bladed knife and demanded she fill a blue carrier bag with cash."

He, while containing extraneous phrases, manages to be blissfully grammatically incorrect despite, or, rather, while, trying to do too much.

Never lead with your knife hand, or an old man will kick your ass.

In vino testiculis

That's the spell they cast when they want to get Hermoine drunk and run a train on her.

Hey, I guess they're right. Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.

Armed robbery = four months in jail. Great.

EliminateNinniesAndTwits: Armed robbery = four months in jail. Great.

Five years and four months.

By the way, the robber is wearing gloves, but he must have handled the bag with his bare hands before putting them on. Good thing most crooks are imbeciles or the cops would never catch anybody.

My fault - reading comprehension failure! 5 years and four months is much more palatable, I had
thought it was merely the 4 months and it seemed quite lenient.

How come the old guy didn't get arrested? I thought it was illegal in England to defend yourself.

Anyway, good on him.

What pisses me off about this article is the police responce. Every time somebody defends theirself against a criminal, the police say "hey guys thats our job." If you can defend yourself without police help, good for you.
