You Cant Explain That: The boss sounds like a typical Republican.

Actually, yes.
Instead of looking to government services (and everyone else's money) to help her, he does it himself. And, being a selfish Rethuglican, he wants to save company money by keeping a productive employee and not having to go through the expense and hassle of hiring someone new.

Employee wins because some of her burden is lifted.

Boss wins because he just bought an employee that will take a bullet for him.

May the lady get to a position where she is able to pay that forward.

FTA: "Plummer now gets up even earlier each morning, takes the kids via South Portland's 24A bus over to their day care in Portland and then takes the 24B bus back to work. "

are there that many busses in Portland that they ran out of unique numbers for all of the routes?

....then she get's an apartment WAY THE HELL OUTSIDE of her means...

So tell me...what other genius choices has she made for the welfare of her and her own?

There are bad bosses.
There are good bosses.
...and then there are bosses that, if they asked you to dig a hole in the woods after midnight, you'd happily grab a shovel and ask them "How deep do you want it, sir?".

It's no mystery how some bosses can gain that kind of loyalty while others struggle just to make people work overtime.

Absolutely true. Being a greedy bastard, the owner sees an opportunity to make money by exploiting his employee going away if she can't make it to work. So he helps out because he can make money off her efforts - read the testimonial from the Texas customer. Good employees are worth their weight in gold. Free market, capitalist pigs realize that and take care of good employees.

And you sound like a liberal Democrat. Someone who refuses to suck on the public teat is anathema to you. A person trying to make it on her own is an object of your derision and ridicule. But I don't see you stepping up to help her - you want to spend someone else's tax money instead. It's easy to be generous with money that's not yours.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Wait......LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL....oh you're a good one.

You should really figure out how to identify "liberal" and "conservative" ideas...I don't think you really understand them or the simple concepts they eschew.

Unless you're trying to troll...then it's a -1 for the gonzo execution.

Probably imbalanced stops for morning and evening rush hours (A: pick up all over residential areas, drop off at convenient downtown stops; B: pick up all over downtowns workplaces, drop off at convenient residential-area stops; or vice-versa), w/ fewer stops at in-between locations, where the 24 probably stops during the day.

/Aware it was just a joke about 'How big could Portland's bus system possibly be?'
