It's about time we use science instead of just throwing people in jail or executing them based on uneducated guesses.

I'll happily set fires to any structures for legal and scientific purposes. That would be my dream job!

Kome: This man was executed in Texas "just because."

That case still makes me sick. I can't believe Rick Perry's opponent's in the primary haven't destroyed him for letting the execution happen on his watch.

I remember that story but didn't remember it was Rick Perry. Okay, I officially believe he's human scum now and have some fuel for anyone in my family who likes him.

/I'm not a Democrat but I sure am hell am not a Republican...unlike the rest of my family

I remember seeing a TV program (Nova?) about fire training in the U.K. versus the U.S. U.S. firefighting schools teach about flashover and its dangers, and at the time, it was virtually ignored in the U.K. The story was partly about the deaths of many people in a London Tube station fire where the wooden escalator stairs caught fire and then fueled what led to a flashover.

Stories about fire make me seriously consider a residential sprinkler system if I ever do a big remodel or build new.

As for this story, it's surprising that much of our advances in fire safety have come at the expense of human life (the Winecoff Hotel, the MGM Grand), and were aimed at life safety and protecting firefighters. but not also about what happens in an actual fire.
