Ugh. I was not a fan of the re-vamped He-Man.

Here's what I want to see.

There was a dude in the opening sequence of Skyrim while you're riding through the town that looked like He-Man. He had the cool armor and everything. I took a detour after the dragon attacked to double check. I should go back to town to see if he's still there so I can possibly loot that armor.

I found that out the hard way and had to restart from the beginning. Guess that's what I get for pussyfooting and loligagging around.

I only made it a few episodes into the New Adventures of He-Man before I jumped ship. Loved the hell out of the 2002-2003 reboot, though. I've always wished Mattel hadn't bungled that one the way they did. However, my geek dollar nowadays go to Masters of the Universe Classics (new window). Basically the original figures updated to modern standards, unlike the "anime" flavor of the reboot. Somehow, they even make the New Adventures figures seem cool. I dutifully get my subscription every year and everything.

That redesign encapsulates many of the reasons why the comic industry crashed in the nineties. Throw a #1 on there somewhere and make each of the images an alternate cover and you are pretty much set. The only thing that could possibly be said in its defense is that the Ha-Man franchise is already dead, and that after the abortion of the movie and the brief He-Man in Space re-launch anything would have been an improvement.
