OMG. They used homeless people in the ad campaign. Unfarkingbelievable.

Democrats will have puppies over this. Cause a bank should never foreclose on any deadbeat that made poor financial decisions using his equity as collateral.

/though, after reading how BOA closes on homes that are paid in full, not theirs or other - I have little sympathy for the feigned outrage that will be directed to them by the idiots on the left.

Especially when they have so very little money. That's why they needed that debit card fee.

what's got people kind of ticked off is that BoA made a lot of people homeless and now seems to be exploiting some homeless folks to make them look sympathetic.

It's just unbelievable to me. They really will exploit anyone. More unbelievable is that people still bank with them.

If you have a fiduciary relationship* with BoA, you deserve what you get.

*exception- people with mortgages that were purchased by them through no fault of their own, who cannot refinance without paying more.

BofA just sold off a bunch of mortgages to a DEBT COLLECTION AGENCY..

No, not unpaid mortgages or defaulted upon ones. Regular, paid-up-to-date mortgages. Our honest, hard-working, responsible, bill-paying friends have now all been registered as having their most major financing turned over to debt collectors.

Thanks, BofA.

coco ebert: MOVE YOUR MONEY

I have a mortgage w/ them. I'm considering refinancing w/ USAA if it is worth the initial cost of moving it (my house is small and the interest is already pretty damn low).

But because I have my mortgage w/ BOA I get free checking. My paycheck goes in and all but usually twenty bucks or so goes out to bills and anything else. I shop with a CC that gives points and I pay it in full most of the time so I actually make money using that for daily shopping, etc. So I kind of feel like I'm taking advantage of them by using their bill pay service at no cost and with no minimum required balance -- and it's their loss and my gain. I can't even overdraft and incur fees from the checking account because I have a CC attached that would kick in for a very minimal cash advance charge. And that never happens because I watch my account daily.

2011-11-19 12:13:23 PM
I guess this blows the "BoA just doesn't want these small accounts anymore" argument right out of the water, doesn't it?

What is the crime of robbing a bank when compared to the crime of running one.

2011-11-19 12:15:10 PM
Actually, public service is one of the few things BoA does really well. The bank invested a lot of money in reviving portions of Charlotte, NC over several decades. They invested smart and they strategically pushed development in some areas through lending rates. Left to its own devices Charlotte would be just another small southern city like Jacksonville, FL or Knoxville, TN. People coming to the Democratic convention should make no mistake, they will be playing the the house that Hugh McCall built.

/very happy to have married into the State Employees Credit Union so I can close my BoA account.

Green Tree Servicing. My hubby & I have NEVER missed a mortgage payment, nor have we EVER been late with the payment. So why does EVERY monthly statement from GTS say in big, bold letters... "This communication is from a debt collector. it is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose."?

Not only that, but if I check our payment status or balance online, it shows the last payment amount as the amount of the actual check PLUS the little bit extra we pay on the principal. GTS has never been able to explain to me why the "last payment amount" is MORE than the amount of the check we wrote.

I've called GTS 3 times and they have yet to fix the error.

BoA bought my mortgage right after I got laid off in 2009. I went out of my way to hunt down alternatives and successfully found Federal Credit Union that would take my loan at a lower interest rate, and only a $175 house appraisal, no closing costs. I did it right away, instead of waiting, just in case my house value kept dropping...

Phil Moskowitz: Every last goddamn one of you better close your accounts.

Working on it. Opened an account with the local CU but they biatched that my debt load was a little to high at the moment. Once I get my HELOC paid down enough I will be bailing out as fast as I can. I'm just waiting for the December statement to come in so I can take the savings account down to the bare minimum without incurring a monthly fee. The HELOC rate I have was predicated on having a savings account as well as an automatic monthly payment to them.

tl;dr They get to hold about $300 hostage on me until I can pay down the HELOC enough to bail.

I don't know about that. It's just that with every "BoA does something awful" story there was an army of people in the thread saying BoA doesn't want all these poor people and their tiny accounts. That it cost more to maintain their accounts than what they were worth. They should just shut up and make more money if they want to be treated well.

That appears to be completely untrue, is all.

All I can comment on is I've had a BoA checking account since they took over my former bank, which took over my former bank, which took over my former bank, which took over....

Point being, I don't have a mortgage with them or anything except a checking account. And I have no problems with them on how that works. This is not a troll, just saying for something as simple as a checking account, it's like any other bank.

Wells Fargo mortgage was just about as incompetent. When I had them I had to call them every single farking month to get them to apply my payment correctly. You shouldn't need to have your mortgage account number memorized.

Then they had the gall to call me to tell me I hadn't made my payment when I had paid $3000 towards a $850/month mortgage. They had put the $3000 all towards extra principal.

Yeah you gotta watch that with just about anybody. I sent a payment early once and it all went to extra principal instead of the monthly payment I intended. A phone call cleared it up and now I make sure to not do that anymore.
