She does understand Watergate ended up poorly for the GOP, right?

So did ..what the hell was the land deal they were fishing for wrongdoing with Bill Clinton, but they had to settle for him trying to protect his privacy about getting his dick sucked? Yeah, that didn't turn out too well for the GOP either.

2011-11-19 09:52:33 AM
Good luck with that.

They're wasting their time on the Solyndra thing. Is the whole affair an unfortunate waste of funds? Sure, but as far as 'scandal', it barely registers a "meh" on the scale.

Have they gotten bored of clamoring for investigations and resignations over Fast and Furious already?

2011-11-19 10:03:32 AM
To be fair, most of the participants in Watergate had the intellect of a child

Is it that Obama is a more effective conservative President than them? Because that seems to be what's pissing them off.

Making an investment that does not pan out isn't illegal, or even unethical.

Breaking and entering and using the presidency to spy on and undermine your enemies is massively illegal and unethical.

This woman seriously needs to be fired into the ocean.

Bring up Watergate out of the blue: The Bachmann path to victory.

Next, the Pope is going to come out to say the Penn state cover-up makes the Catholic pederast scandal look like child's p- Oh gross..nevermind.

She does not understand her own words. This is an unavoidable conclusion.

Man, I'll bet she's just as crazy in the sack as she is in public.

In unrelated news, Michelle Bachmann won an honorary degree in Children's Sports Medicine at the Penn State Pedofactory for her stunning work redefining childs play. Rick Santorum, formerly of Pennsylvania, nominated her. He holds a double honorary degree in Lubricants Chemical Engineering and Animal Husbandry.

Since we didn't do a damned thing to the CEOs of the banks that lost trillions of dollars and tanked the US economy after making bad investments, I think maybe Republicans should hold off casting the first stone here.

No matter how many times she rehearses it, she cannot make that remark sound intelligent...

A bad loan does not compare to an office break-in for political gain. Is she dumb or just keenly ironic?

2011-11-19 10:21:29 AM
I'm glad she's spouting off at the mouth. Otherwise she MIGHT have a chance at the presidency. Thankfully she never will.

Welcome to the footnote of the 2011 presidential primaries..(she won't make it to 1012)

Just out of curiosity. Looking back...was there some point where we all agreed not to take her seriously anymore? I haven't seen anyone say "Don't laugh, she could be your next President" for some time.

Was it the corn dog? Or some specific comment that went beyond dumbassery into meta-dumbassery?

Yeah this is a big winner for Republicans (new window) all right.

Money quote:

"There are some in Washington who think we can't, or shouldn't, compete when it comes to producing solar panels, wind turbines and other clean energy technologies," Chu said at GE's PrimeStar plant in Arvada, CO, the Hill reported. "They're ready to wave the white flag and declare defeat. I disagree."

That's how it is done, folks.

In the meantime, what China's government invests in Solyndra-like enterprises dwarfs what the U.S. spends while the Republicans think (or say) that the problem is too much taxes and too much regulation. And idiots keep voting for them.

"This is ridiculous. Government shouldn't be out picking winners and losers in the private sector. Businesses have to make it, or not make it, on their own.

I'm sure she's going to be RUSHING out to return all the farm subsidies her family has gotten over the years, right.

Also, cut off all subsidies for the energy market. And farmers. And NASA. I mean, screw research into new technologies.

This is a really good question. At some point in the past couple of months, it was collectively realized that this woman didn't have a prayer of winning the nomination, and the mockery went up to 11. When was it?

Probably from the get go. You know how populists soar on to an epic collapse when people take a close look. The media would love to point to the corndog incident (or the Dukakis tank incident, or Howard Dean's HYAAAAAAAA!) but those events tend to be puncutation on a trend already occurring. I truly believe Herman Cain was at his apex and ready to fall even before the sexual harrassment stories broke (9-9-9 sounds clever for all of 15 seconds to anyone who feels like paying attention and following up), but you can bet we'll all remember that as the watershed moment.

If Candidate Obama was less competant and more lacking in substance a Reverend Wright scandal would have been the "gaffe" we all remember.

I think what really bothers me about Solyndra is that the GOP is practically dancing around with glee that an American company, employing Americans, went bankrupt because they couldn't compete with cheaper companies in China for a few cheap political points. That is disgusting.

How about throwing orthodoxies out the window and actually do what is best for Americans, whether it is a liberal idea or a conservative idea? China invests in their companies and takes jobs from competitors, which is us. Good for them, crappy for us.

In the 1705 government-backed-loan program, for example, $16.4 billion of the $20.5 billion in loans granted as of Sept. 15 went to companies either run by or primarily owned by Obama financial backers-individuals who were bundlers, members of Obama's National Finance Committee, or large donors to the Democratic Party. I've seen what it would be like, to a degree. I watched the Alan Keyes / Obama debate.

Half the debate, Obama was looking like, "Is this some kind of joke? Am I on Candid Camera?"

You realize that green companies are pretty much going to support Obama and the Democrats as a matter of course because the Republicans don't give two shiats about the environment, right?

I'll translate that for you.

"You realize that green companies are pretty much going to support Democrats in exchange for money to sell a product for which there is no place in a free market and that Republicans can't be bought that easily"

This is what makes the liberals claims about how bought out or corrupt Republicans are... It's the Democrats that will take money and give favors to absolutely anyone who will support them and the Republicans that seem to have at least a few standards.

History will record Republicans as the ones that destroyed this nation, good for our enemies, crappy for us.

We are not losing our status and power in the world because of "liberal marxist socialism derp derp" but because we cut taxes, then start a $3 trillion dollar war and $1 trillion drug give away that was unfinanced. We have a party that lives in a fantasy world of the 1950s where oil is really neat, while the rest of the world has realized that oil is simply NOT the future. Then again the rest of the world has basically figured out proper healthcare systems so they have lower costs and healthier societies while we have "Death panels" and "Government takeover" (even though it is nothing close to a take over and Repugnant scum have actually advocated what is close to death panels, as well as every one of those insurance companies having their own death panels).

F**king hell, if only the American people were not so bloody stupid to finally wake up and realize that the Republican party is MORE F***KING dangerous than Al Qaeda. God damn people are f***king dumb.

Right...that's why Republicans have been championing small government, free markets, and a simpler tax code for thirty years while overseeing a government that has grown, markets that have gotten more regulated, and a tax code that resembles Swiss cheese.
