Good luck luring in new business now, Alabama. Maybe they'll open up a new Walmart for y'all instead.

This anti-immigration hysteria is actually disguised anxiety over the recession. That being said, not every immigrant is someone who wants to steal your jobs; many will emigrate to create jobs.

Besides, he's white.

To be fair, the officer was sort of bound by the new law. Stopped by the lack of a plate, no license, no passport, yeah, he did exactly what he was supposed to do, thanks to the way this law is worded.

Congrats, kids. You got EXACTLY what you wanted. Enjoy that.

I kind of enjoy the irony of a German being detained for not having his papers, though.

This. I can't honestly say that this scenario would have gone differently in any other state: car with no tags being driven by a foreign national with no ID? Seems the standard anywhere would be to take him in until they could establish his identity, which was all they seemed to do here

They love this bill it polls at being about 80% approval ^

They'll tweak it a little but they won't really mess with it much

They've passed plenty of stupid stuff, but they haven't come close to the fascist laws of Arizona, Georgia and Alabama. Hell, we gave out DLs without a SS card for a few years here.

Wow these birthers really lost it. All because they couldn't handle a mixed race president.

I say let their hatred eat them up from the inside out. I'll bring the marshmallows.

FTA: "If it were not for the immigration law, a person without a license in their possession wouldn't be arrested like this," he said. Previously, drivers who lacked licenses received a ticket and a court summons, the police chief said.

I've travelled a lot overseas myself. And I keep my driver license and passport close while on the road. But, I've never been arrested in foreign countries when I didn't have them, even in the Third World.

Are you kidding... He felt right at home, with police strictly enforcing immigration laws. He would probably admit he was in the wrong for not having his documentation.

You must remember that he comes from GERMANY. When you want to talk about upright police forces that don't take shiat from anybody think Germany.

but he was released after an associate retrieved his passport, visa and German driver's license from the hotel where he was staying, Anderson said.

What a dumbshiat.

The only way this story could have been better is if the cop had said "papers, please" and the German punched him in the nose.
