FTA:

Sen. John Kerry - who almost always claims to be hopeful for the committee - now says things look pretty grim. "If you're going to ask every average American who drives a car, goes to work, struggles each day to pay their bill - if they're going to somehow be part of the solution, to have something on the table that does not ask the wealthiest people in the country to share in it would be unconscionable," Kerry said. "So this is the divide now. We're still working. I hope we can get there. But I don't know at this point."

Sen. Kerry. Do us all a favor, simply reject, reject, and reject. Sit on your hands and do NOTHING AT ALL because you win. That is all you have to do, nothing, and you, and America win.

/find it sad that someone has to 'win' in order to do the right thing for our country.

GOP farts in their general direction.

Sounds of hammers and saws from nearby woods.

After a long history of bending over backwards to provide assistance to the GOP when something had to be done, the democrats will figure out a way to screw up the idea of "doing nothing" to accomplish what they want.

I'm predicting the privatization of medicare and the permanent extension of the Bush tax cuts by the end of 2012.

Sounds like the Republicans have made some good proposals on spending cuts and raising fees for some things. Not great but good start. Now they need to realize that adding Tax revenue that the Democrats (And most of the American people) wants is also a good thing.

Lots of Finns in Ontario. That's where my wife is from (Timmins, ON, CA) so Finnish wouldn't be bad.

Oh, the speak the Queens English, lovely, and I love the metric system, because it makes farking sense America. I hate converting units in my chemistry classes. I also dislike Mountain Dew, so......I am not really seeing a downside.

The Democrats on the committee are being completely unreasonable here, when you consider that the Republicans have offered to comjpromise by matching reductions in spending dollar-for-dollar with tax cuts for the rich.

What will happen is both houses, neither wanting the cuts that are on the table, will pass an extension until the end of the year, at least, or possibly sometime in the Spring.

Not sure I want the President to veto the extension or sign it, as a lot of the cuts are going to hurt people who need assistance.

The democrats offer is a nice dinner followed by some dancing, then some heavy petting and a handie.
The republicans offer is a nice shot of rohypnol at the start of the date, followed by having sex with the unconsicous body in a very uncomfortable place.

In this scenario, the republicans settling for just going back to their place for a few donkey punches and a dirty sanchez could, I suppose, be called compromising, but I'm sure you can understand how the democrats would be justified in telling them to go fark themselves.

Sadly that wouldn't surprise me one iota.

The D's could walk a mile and a half towards the R's to reach a concession and the R's would still hold their breath and stamp their feet that they didn't go two yards more.

"Meet in the middle" to the R's is about bringing the discussion somewhere between their asshole and their farky parts.

Well, since the Republicans are only using the supercommittee to hold the economy hostage again (this time until they make the Bush tax cuts permanent, which now seems more likely than the Bush tax cuts ever expiring), I'd "taunt" it, too.

Too bad the Republicans have merged with the Religious Right. Now they can't compromise because of ideology. Sounds and is pathetic, disgusting and very much like Europe of the Middle Ages. Oh those were wondrous times, weren't they?

I know we're all conditioned to expect the Democrats to cave even in the face of blatant impending victory....

But, I have hope this time.

Does anyone know how long this super-committee thing is supposed to last before they admit defeat and begin the automatic spending cuts and end the Bush tax cuts?

Infernalist: Does anyone know how long this super-committee thing is supposed to last before they admit defeat and begin the automatic spending cuts and end the Bush tax cuts?

November 23rd. The cuts, however, are supposed to go in to effect in 2013 or some bullshiat, though. So, expect them to go about undoing all the automatic nonsense for political points.

2011-11-18 11:26:35 PM
I can't wait for the $600B defense cut to kick in. Suck it, gigantic waste of money.

2011-11-18 11:34:37 PM
Why should the take them? the mandatory cuts and tax raises are better then any of the GOP plans.

Why are the Democrats going to go for a plan cutting taxes for the rich and making cuts to medicare when they can take the default which will not do these things?

2011-11-18 11:39:15 PM
Dear Republicans.

You have to make a deal better then the automatic cuts for the Democrats to give a shiat.

Tax cuts for the rich while screwing over everyone else isn't going to cut it. Guess what you stupid plan of these committee is blowing up in your face with defense cuts and taxes going up for the rich.

Suck it!
