If you work in IT for an IT company, you are surrounded by many many people who are as smart as or smarter than you and it's a humbling experience. I much prefer working in IT for this IT company. In widget-making companies, IT needs to understand that they're a support function. Like janitors, admin or HR. Yes, they're very important to the success of the company, but they're still support.

This is why, when you are an IT person, when you are fired or laid-off, they pull you from your office, notify you, and then you are monitored while you pack up your personal stuff, and you can't touch a computer until you are out of the door.

/Happened to me twice.
//Not fired, laid off. Both companies are gone now, one just died, the other was bought out by it's competitor.

I am aware of the partnership, however history shows us that most of these links are posted the day after on FARK.

At a previous company we had an IT that hacked the CEO's account and sent out a bunch of emails. They were sent to the whole company and had strange requests. Like "Lets all meet out back".

The kicker was the guy was still working there at the time.

Yep, he got canned.

I designed a website for a guy I already suspected would dick me on the pay. Sure enough, as soon as the site launched, Mr. Dick decided he wasn't going to pay me what we agreed on. He was smart enough to revoke my FTP access, but still a few weeks later, his international physicians recruiting website showed a "Site is down" page.

Mr. Dick made a phone call to me to ask me to fix his now broken website. He paid me double what he owed me (in cash), and I removed the one line of code that redirected his index page to a blank page.

I had added that one line as a pre-caution knowing that if he DID pay me as agreed upon, the line would be deleted, and if he didn't his site would "break".
