I'm pretty sure they replaced everyone involved with the show in the last 3 years...Its just gotten weird..the set is very happy and shiny, they have cgi fairies...Sandra Oh was the magic cookie fairy...Its not the show i remember watching 25ish years ago. Not that that alone is a bad thing, just the whole tone has seemed to change.

//CGI Ernie and Bert rocks
//I have small child..don't watch for me

The Belzer Muppet looks more like Belzer than Belzer does.

There used to be "Sesame Street for Grownups" on late night TV. It was basically just a compilation of all the awesome bits that SS used to do, without the educational crap.

That, and the bong kept me entertained for hours on end.

Oh god the Mad Men one was great. I love how he calls them sycophants at the end. No way does any 5 year old know that word.

My favorite snark of late was their iPogo episode.

The one that haunts me from my childhood is a cartoon short they had that was basically a bunch of gay rabbits running a train on each other trying to pull a carrot out of the ground.

I've always regarded as Sesame Street as the greatest television program ever made-and these sketches have only reinforced that position.

Maybe because they are not online anywhere, but, I'm pretty sure that they have also recently done "Dr. Feel" (a Dr. Phil parody) and "Desperate Houseplants". Both of which I think could probably get into this list as well.

Dexter parody - are you watching this year? It's a total joke.

"Yo, Mr. White, so, you say you want to make some Math?"

"Yeah, I really need to make some math".

"OK, so, you mean, like 2+2=5?"

"No no no Jesse, can't you see, 2, plus 2 more, is 1... 2... 3... 4"

"Oh, yeah, yeah, I'm getting it now. I know a guy who can move a lot of numbers for us. I'll give him a ring, they call him 'The Count'".

The idea has always been that you don't talk down to the kids, and that they are at least familiar with what the grown-up are watching. It was easier back in the day of three networks, PBS, Independent Channels, and UHF, when the whole family had a more common reference pool, but CTW/Sesame Workshop has always been hip to the contemporary.

Maybe it's because I don't have children or that I'm just jaded, but I fail to see how a single one of those is "inappropriate." The writer of the article comes off as a douchey prude countless times in that article. It's even worse than "o noes, think of the childrens." I imagine even the president of some group with the word "family" in their name would read that article and go "Seriously? What's this guy's problem?"

I loved that they even had a Lafayette puppet in the True Mud sketch.

Twin Beaks confused the HELL outta me as a child- my mom had to explain it to me; she thought it was hilarious.

Now, I think it's hilarious.

The Fat Cat song features this line:

See a red head being fed bread as he sped on a sled of lead on his way to be wed but he fled instead.

(or something to that end)

It still takes me by surprise that kids were listening to boppadotta telling a story of a man running away from his wedding.

/oh.
/man.
/yeah.

Perhaps, in a world where there are plenty of choices for children's programming, Sesame wants to put out a product that parents will choose because they like it, too?

Um...yes? Sesame Street has always done movie and TV and musical parodies. I thought doing so was one of the basic ingredients of the show. I know I've only been watching for roughly 30 years, but come on.

While not a parody, the other day my daughters were watching Sesame Street and to my surprise I found myself enthralled with the fact that Neil Patrick Harris was on. Playing an egotistical "shoe fairy" that wasn't very good at his job and didn't particularly like his wings touched.

I was laughing much harder than the kids were.

What!? No Breaking Bad "Face Off" parody?

/I leave disappointed.
