"If Tom DeLay was taking my advice during the period when I was in the minority, Bill Clinton wouldn't have been impeached, we wouldn't have gone to war in Iraq, and he wouldn't have gone on the dance show," he said.

I love you so much, Barney.

Last weekend, after maybe a few too many drinks while my flight was delayed, I accosted an innocent man on the Delta shuttle because I though he was Barney Frank. He was not.

I'm so over this joke that I'm going to divorce it on its deathbed and marry a hotter, younger joke that I'm already fooling around with.

To be fair, if I had to pick one member of Congress to have persistent closed captions, it would be him.

Off-topic- who makes the call to put captions over thick British accents that are perfectly understandable? What's going on there?

Also good:

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), whom Newt Gingrich said last month should be thrown in jail over his ties to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, is having a hard time containing his glee at Gingrich's current predicament.

The Massachusetts Congressman took to the airwaves on Wednesday and Thursday to spike the football over reports that Gingrich took $1.6 million in consulting fees from Freddie Mac. The ex-Speaker said in a recent debate he was merely there as a "historian," but a Bloomberg report indicated that, while technically not a lobbyist, he was tasked with helping win over Republicans who wanted to dismantle Freddie Mac.

"Well, he's just lying," Frank told MSNBC's Chris Matthews on Thursday. "It is, of course, lobbying." He added: "He is clearly the highest paid historian in American history. People complain if you go into the humanities, you don't make as much money, but this may do a lot for that career path."

Meh, if you were that wasted you should have just plowed ahead with it anyway.

It's not like you would have left him any more confused than you already made him.

Heh... Go Barney.

I'm quite happy he is still going to be my Rep after the redistricting here in MA.

He doesn't suffer fools gladly, and that's one of the reasons I'll keep voting to send him to Washington.

Diogenes: I don't understand how the right can simultaneously embrace intellectuals and anti-intellectuals.

Oh its easy!

Its the same thing as being anti-gay but having sex with other men, or being anti-illegal immigration while employing illegal immigrants, or claiming that you're a Christian when you support nothing of what Jesus actually stood for.

Easy. Conservative intellectuals just act like they're not really being intellectual in the first place; they're just using "common sense."

I don't know what you're talking about. Hating gay people, opposing taxes for rich people, cuts to social spending and legal protections for fetuses are the primary themes of the Bible. Haven't you ever read it all of the way through? Go read 1 Reagan 10: 1-30, the letters from Ayn Rand, and the Book of Schaffer.

I guess at least Newt married the women he was bangin on the side... Right? I mean what number wife would Bill be on now?

As a voter I didn't mind Bill getting a BJ and I really don't care that Newt is on his 3rd wife. But really what's better for a politician? Does Newt get any cred for actually getting married?

WTF does a historian do for Fannie Mae? C/p from wikipedia and change the cites?

(Jeff Dunham joke;)
"You're a 'business analyst? So what do you do? Walk around, stare at buildings and go...'Hmmmmm.' *nods* 'Yup; you are a business.'"?"

If FM actually paid Gingrich ~$1.5-2M to be a "historian", that right there should be held up next to "bee semen studies" as a great example of "stupid shiat the government pays for".

// actually, there might be things we can learn from bee semen
// "This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere - explain again how bee semen may be employed to prevent earthquakes."
