Here is a picture of Sexy Sadie (the floozie) feral momma kitty I have been trying to catch for over 2 years with her 2 newest babies (#18 & #19). The babies are about 3 months old or so and she is nursing them before they take turns eating the food I leave out for them. They are a tuxedo and a black tabby, just like the two I found when they were a week or so old. Those two were taken to the lady who does the bottle feeding for the local no-kill shelter. I am going to try catching these two and momma next week when the weather warms up a tiny bit. I don't want to be trying to catch them when the temperatures are in the teens at night. Plus we are supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow.

Sadie is keeping her eye on me peeking out the window. She is such a cautious girl, and a great momma. I really do need to stop this baby factory. Can you imagine how many more babies there would be on this block if I hadn't caught all of these little ones?

Arrrggghhh!

just came back from the vet.

My mother is a enthusiastic baby bird rescuer and 2 weeks back she had gotten some day old doves from a woman she works with. They had splayed little legs other than that growing like crazy. We fed them with Aviplus which is the food you hand rear parrots with.
But she was worried about the splayed legs and after consulting the internet and getting nothing really concrete we went to the vet. He told us the birdies were born with deformities due to inbreeding most likely and that's why their legs were all wonky. And they would never be able to walk properly. So he said the best thing was to put them to sleep. So yes, they are gone now.

I am sitting here crying over birdies... Dammit... They are not kitties or doggies or furkids... but you get attached to them too.

This was taken last weekend... today both of them were almost covered in feathers.
