This sounds like the start of a plot for a Neal Stephenson novel.

QR codes begin popping up all over the city. Curious smartphone users take pictures of the QR codes which takes them to a web site that shows only static. Unbeknownst to the phone users, their minds have now been hacked by the Bulgarian lineage of the Knights Hospitaller. The users are now compelled to pass the QR codes around to uninfected users. Only a plucky lesbian barista/Hungarian death metal guitarist and an aging Gen X e-reader enthusiast can prevent the human race from becoming one giant cultural botnet.

Allow me to let you in on some photograpgic history. Before digital pictures like the sort you take on your Iphone, there were cameras that took images on rolls of plastic film embedded with light reactive chemicals. When these first came out they could not record colour so the images showed shades of grey. This was known as BLACK AND WHITE photography.

Some artists make images now in BLACK AND WHITE unlike the images of your mother when they search for her with IR cameras when she escapes and starts raping men.

I was all set to get a good rant on about the gallery in question needing to grow a pair, then it turns out it's the city hall. Totally different rules. (which is sad, but I digress). A gallery can be provoking and not have to worry about every little minded patron coming through, A city hall needs to be inclusive which usually means dumbing it down for even the Puritans. Art should provoke emotion, not just match the couch. I think too many people either never worked that out or have forgotten.

It must be horrible for some people to have to be in the presence of a breast with the lights on, or said breast not being used to feed a quiverfull of babies. Thankfully they have pictures of some flogged, bone broken, bloodied mess, nailed to a cross they can go home to for comfort.

Any and all fundamentalists. Pictures of massacred messiahs, or massacred infidels, comfort in blood is much more natural and acceptable to a god than a boob could ever be.

NP, good one.
I'm in Fredericton NB and to be completely honest this area is the bible belt of the east coast.
There are so many stuffy people in this "city" I'm surprised anybody can breathe.
There are so many noses in the air I'm surprised we don't have mass drownings when it rains.
/But seriously there are a lot of snobbery in this backwater burg.

Please read the article. Jesus, even just LOOK at the tag! CBC.

I'm from Fredericton. We have the second highest homosexual population per capita in North America, but there is a lot of old conservative money still kicking around. It makes for weird controversies.
