Steve Williams should show no appreciation for Tiger. He obviously would have been better off in his life working for other golfers, and clearly without Tiger he would have been wealthy enough to withstand temporary hardships, both professionally and then personally. Clearly, he had no money in the bank, and could not withstand Tiger being out of his golfing wits for awhile.

Nah, people saw this coming back in like 06 or 07 when he had his knee surgeries. The field had "caught up" in terms of physical ability and tiger had "lost a step" and had to rework his swing for the 2nd or 3rd time becuase it was destroying his knee.

He'd gone from the clear favorite every time... to just another upper echelon golfer capable of winning.

I'm assuming a third degree felony, which is a misdemeanor on steroids. My cousin got rung up on a third degree felony for drug trafficking and he just got slapped on the wrist with probation and community service. I'm not sure there's such thing as a third degree felony murder, though. My understanding is:

First Degree: Premeditated (even if just for a second). I took action to kill you.
Second Degree: I took action against you and didn't mean to kill you but you died anyway.
Third Degree: I did something really stupid/irresponsible and you died as a result.

dartben: No, it's not. Murder of any degree is the intentional killing of another. Manslaughter is the unintentional killing of another. 3rd degree murder is subby pretending he's Jack McCoy.

I'm almost sure that in the US most states either have a separate crime of manslaughter, or everything that WOULD be manslaughter gets lumped into 3rd degree murder. Your mileage may vary depending on locale.

On par 3 and 4's Tiger is, at best, and average golfer. He makes his living on Par 5's. If there were no Par 5's, we would have never heard of Tiger Woods. After his knee and leg problems, he can no longer endure the torque required for the long drives and approach shoots on par 5's. He may scratch out a couple more wins, hell, he may even win a major but the dominate Tiger of old is now just a memory.

Actually it has primarily been advances in equipment that has allowed "the field" to catch up to some degree, and Tiger's knee was bad LONG before he started changing his swing. He had his first knee surgery in 1994, before he was even in college, to remove some benign cysts and that procedure caused some weakening of the ACL. The doctors told him then that at some point he would likely have problems that would lead to more surgical procedures.

His swing dynamics likely played some part in the process, but it is a misnomer to say that his swing "destroyed his knee". In fact, most of his injuries have happened when he was running, not playing golf.

Of course, Tiger's main edge has always been his mental strength, and phenomenal short game work, rather than his length or overall "ball-striking".

As for the picture, he actually smiled when he and Steve shook hands on the first tee, so it's worth noting that this particular photo is clearly being used to promote a narrative that is somewhat skewed. I know, I know, welcome to FARK.
