If "privileged" means:

-being abandoned by your father
-losing your mother to cancer
-being sent to your relatives while your mother works halfway around the world
-living on food stamps for a time

then I can totally see Perry's point. If only we all could have it so well.

And he spent his summers at his family's hunting ranch, HonkyLips.

Of all the things to go after Obama about, trying to say he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth is just not going to work. Later in life he was quite successful and well to do but as a kid he had it pretty rough.

2011-11-17 09:58:30 AM
I'm really proud that I was a part of electing America's first privileged president.

2011-11-17 09:59:42 AM
I love the quotes in this article, but this is the best one:

...the president's "mentality that he's the smartest guy in the room."

Something Perry never has to worry about.

2011-11-17 10:03:24 AM
I grew up in the rough and tumble suburbs of New Jersey. I wish I could have lived the easy life in Jakarta, too.

2011-11-17 10:07:40 AM
I'll be sure to remember how growing up in a privileged way should be held against someone if Perry's privileged kids ever decide they'd like to follow in their idiot daddy's footsteps.

2011-11-17 10:10:45 AM
This statement, in no way, could ever come back and bite Perry in the touchis. I think he should press this point, over and over again. It will be win win for the American people...

America deserves a poor and stupid president. PERRY 2012!

He got where he was via affirmative action or he led a privileged life. Make up your minds, wingnuts.

But he never learned the value of hard work if he doesn't want everybody to do it his way.

See, it works like this:
If you want your kids to have it better than you had, that's the American Dream.
If you want everybody's kids to have it better than you had, that's the Communist Manifesto.

Well. affirmative action is a privilege. It certainly isn't merit.

It's funny how Perry thinks he still has a chance.

Nnnyyesss - Fartbongo never had to agonize over the seating arrangement for a dinner party nor have to chastise a chamber maid for an improperly-made bed.
The luxury of an impoverished upbringing spared him such burdens.

Perry is one of the few guests on Hannity's show that when the guest walks in the room, the collective IQ goes down.

2011-11-17 10:32:38 AM
He means privileged for his kind..

For a few years I think, but he went to high school back in Hawaii.

I want a guy who is the smartest guy in the room not someone that probably forgets his pin number all the time.

GWLush: I want a guy who is the smartest guy in the room not someone that probably forgets his pin number all the time.

Even worse: You could get Cain, who thinks being the smart guy in the room is both wrong and unnecessary. He'd rather just hire experts to tell him what to do.

2011-11-17 10:48:06 AM
Well, I want somebody who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, but isn't. America was made great by penii, not genii.

attended the best private academy his grand parents could buy doesn't factor into a life of privilege? Having enough disposable income to blow it on pot and cocaine? Traveling abroad in Pakistan?

Historically, having a President who thought he was smarter than everyone else hasn't turned out that well. The best Presidents are really smart, but not at the absolute top, and surrounded by brilliant people.

That Barry did have something of a privileged life. No silver spoon, mind you, but definitely some opportunities the truly underprivileged can only dream of.

1. Sure, his grandparents sent him to a great school, but at immense financial sacrifice. They gave up a lot to pay that school bill.

2. There are people who don't have enough income to feed themselves that still go buy pot, so "disposable income" is a moot point.

3. That was pretty easy to do when passports cost less, airlines were subsidized and there were no baggage fees.

You'll forgive me if I don't give a fark that the president of the United States wasn't underprivileged as a child and prefer to make light of the dude who thinks access to weed makes someone privileged.

Obama played the black kid.

Seriously, who gives a shiat if a President grew up priviledged or not? He is President not a rapper looking for street cred.

That's the new dogwhistle phrase for "uppity negro", folks.

Ahhhh, the stupid things Rick Perry says. Someone should start a list. Well someone more industrious and not lazy, like me

2011-11-17 12:17:34 PM
He must of been privileged, he lived in Hawaii. I can't afford to take a vacation in Hawaii.

Perry does not need to worry about that even if he is alone in the room.

Rick Perry did overcome adversity at an early age.

Why just last month he read "Green Eggs and Ham" all by himself!

How dare the former editor of the Harvard Law Review have the gumption to think he is intelligent?

That's the part that always gets me. The guy came from nothing, and grew up to be President. He practically is the American dream. He's the definition of bootstraps. And they hate his farking guts for it.

2011-11-17 12:23:34 PM
Going the old "liberal elite" route now?

At least Romney hasn't tried that (or has he?).
