Say goodbye to Georgia. The liberals who destoyed their own states will scatter to those locations that still have opportunity and spread their failed liberalism demanding socialist policies and voting for liberal candidates.

And when GA fails, the liberals will have to pack it up and move to other states that still have opportunity. And we know those states are not democrat controlled, yet.

Or 1996, I guess.

The truth hurts, doesn't it?

/Detroit Michigan, Ohio, California and other major bastions of liberalism losing millions of people a year to states like GA and TX agree with me.

//the good news is that as these liberals infest and infect their new states, the states will be brought down to the level of bankruptcy of the states they fled.

In other words, give it about 20 years or so and there will not be a single republican state around. USA! USA!

If liberals were invading I'd be all for it.
More likely it's just more Republican suburbanites coming in to suck up the water that we already don't have enough of and expecting the job market that was here in the late '90s (we're at 10.3% people - there's no new work here).

The yankees can have Atlanta. It's a soul-less collection of strip malls, office complexes and instant suburbs. If you're from the South, the only reason you'd move there is to come out of the closet.

It isn't the yankees that will do the south in, but the braindead liberals escaping the poverty of California. Course, we have a lot of people that have left Illinois and Michigan down here. So they are slowly impacting the region.

/In my precinct in the late 1980's, democrats didn't vote in the primaries. No democrats ran for local offices and there were none voting in the national elections.

During the most recent presidential election, there were about 500 democrats that voted.

The republicans have always been on the wrong side of history so maybe that is a good thing. How does it feel knowing your way of thinking is dead and you are a dinasoar?

You still need to go back to trolling school.

I agree on the result, but it will have nearly nothing to do with migration from the north/midwest and California, and nearly everything to do with the fact that the GOP is doing all it can to alienate every minority in the country.

Always? So ending slavery was a bad thing? Getting the voter's rights act passed was on the wrong side of history?

Talk about denying the past. Here is some fun stuff from wikipedia (new window). Really dude it was not that hard to find. Much like you rantings about Pelosi yesterday you only look at the part you want to see.

"The Act was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson, a Democrat who had earlier signed the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 into law"

"During the debate over the 2006 extension, some Republican members of Congress objected to renewing the preclearance requirement (the Act's primary enforcement provision)"

"On January 11, 1864, Senator John B. Henderson of Missouri submitted a joint resolution for a constitutional amendment abolishing slavery." Yep a Democrat.

I can do this all day. You want to see issues like slavery and civil rights as partisan issues when the truth is both sides played roles in those accomplishments.

What you really want to ignore is the southern strategy (new window). See thats all I've seen from the Republican party my whole life. In the last year I have seen their biggotry turn towards muslims and gays and don't forget Mexicans. So don't try to pretend Republicans have not embraced racxism and biggotry just because Lincoln freed the slaves 145 years ago.

sigh - you seem to forget that it was the democrats that seceeded from the union and started a little thing called the Civil War?

You also forget that without the help of the republicans, the voting rights act would not have passed to be signed by Johnson.

Anything else you don't know about? Like how much money Mr. Nancy Pelosi made from his insider trading from VISA? Does that bother you that the hubby of the former speaker of the house was participating in insider trading?

Atlanta is the sprawliest sprawl that ever sprawled. That's like 54 miles from downtown Atlanta. And I thought Wesley Chapel was some sprawly bullshiat for Tampa.

I'm one of the yankees that headed south a few years back for a better job and climate. Detroit->Raleigh. Best decision I ever made, met my wife there, got in with a good field & only saw snow twice. There's even a suburb of Raleigh named Cary that is generally referred to as Containment Area for Relocated Yankees because of all the northerners that end up there. I love Raleigh - they even have a Jets Pizza now.

I moved away right before the olympics in '95, but lived in Little 5 Points before it was cool. Once people started stuffing themselves and their new houses on every available open plot of land, I knew it was time to go. I don't miss it much.

$200,000? I moved to L5P in 2000 and the houses were already $300k and they came with a dealer.

Actually, the Jamaicans took over the neighborhood around 2002 and took control of the drug trade so there aren't street dealers there any more. They'll get killed.

The reason Atlanta has had such sprawl is that there are no large natural barriers for growth, the Chattahoochie isn't wide enough to stop growth, there is no ocean and the mountains are 60 miles north. Hell I live in the burbs because the Tech jobs are in the burbs.

'I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you liberals do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Liberals are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure.'

TheDumbBlonde: Atlanta hasn't been "Southern" for a long, long time.

Absolutely right. Natives are rare. This is how long it hasn't been Southern. In 1967 my aunt and her husband decided to move to Atlanta. My grandmother asked her why she'd even think about going up there to "live with all those Yankees!" Looking at the FA, it appears that we're just recycling our Yankees for newer models. The Yankees are fine. It's the "half backs" we don't want. These are the people who retired to Florida and then decided to move half way back up north.

So much this. I moved down 2 years ago from Minnesota. I don't think I actually met someone from Georgia for the first three or four months. The first group of people I met were from Michigan, Tennessee, Minnesota, and even a couple of guys from the UK.

But, to be fair, this isn't that different from any other big city. When I lived in Denver, there were no Coloradans there. It was all Californians and Mid-Westerners.
