There is no law saying you can't overpay and/or make a "Gift to the US Government." I wonder why all these millionaires don't take advantage of it.

My taxes are plenty high enough now.

Surely, with your taxes being high enough already, we are no longer running annual deficits and carrying $14 Trillion in debt.

If you make more than $100,000 a year your federal taxes are too low.

I can gather two things from your post and either one could be true.

Either you're making over a million a year and you're too stupid to hire a good accountant or you're full of shiat. Either way you're an idiot.

American millionaires

I am proud

One of the millionaires suggested that if Norquist wanted low taxes and less government, "Renounce your American citizenship and move to Somalia where they don't collect any tax."

I'll be a millionaire could live like a billionaire there. Even if you include paying for your own security, infrastructure and resources.

Not just any millionaires, but Patriotic Millionaires (R). Good gawd, are these people retarded?

2011-11-17 09:02:16 AM
So they really want the government to tax other millionaires more, or else they would just write a check to the government.

A gentle reminder: if you live in a State on the right-hand side of this chart...

i26.tinypic.com

...not only are you not taxed enough already, you're not even taxed enough to pay for your own basic needs.

Quit whining, you greedy f**kers. If the actual job creators know how to get the infrastructure fixed and the country back on the right track, and they are the epitome of The American Dream, why are you arguing with them? Do you hate America that much you want to destroy The American Dream?

FYI: The pre-Bush tax rate on $1,000,000 would be an increase of $36k per year.

If charity worked, why aren't we holding food drives and bake sales instead of insisting that things are paid for by taking taxes?

Could it be that charity won't work on this scale, and economic socialism is actually a better system for paying for government infrastructure? These millionaires seem to think so.

$100,000 isn't that much if you're talking multiple kids, a home, car payments, college, etc.

BunkyBrewman: Why aren't capital gains taxed at the same rate as income tax?

they were. reagan raised them (!) in 1986. it was the "new republicans" who slashed them in 1996 and then in 2003.

meaning that the top 400 earners in the US right now - people making $100+ million A YEAR - pay an effective tax rate of somewhere around 17 percent.

well that seems fair!

Because giving the government money they didn't expect is about the dumbest thing you can do. If it's not allocated already it is wasted. If they expect to get the money, it goes into the budget and has a chance to be spent well.

A: 'millionaire' usually means you have a million in worth, not in income. meaning a bunch of people who don't earn a million a year want to raise taxes on people that do. Not a surprise.

B: For all of the citizens united haters out there, a quandry: If money buys results in Congress, and Republicans are all in the pockets or rich big business types, but those rich big business types want higher taxes on themselves, shouldn't their money have bought them higher personal taxes? Oh no! One of my initial premises must be wrong!

Income rates shouldn't matter. If incomes are lower in a state then the government should be spending less there for services. The reasons that States are getting more is Pork and depending on the Feds to feed the poor instead of taking care of them at the state level.

I was born and raised in LA, now living in Ohio. I can tell you, it's not as easy as you think. Look at the education rates on your states on the right. Poor, under privileged people with no possible hope.

Oh, before you jump on my shiat, I'm a card carrying republican that's known to be a fiscal conservative. I just know how to pick my battles, and your little list is misleading.

A cut of 15% on someone at the middle class or lower hurts them drastically more than a cut of 15% on a multimillionaire.

FTFA: "If you think the federal government can spend your money better than you can, then by all means" pay more in taxes than you owe, said Grover Norquist, of Americans for Tax Reform, a group that has gotten almost all congressional Republicans to pledge to vote against tax hikes. The IRS should have a little line on the form where people can donate money to the government, he suggested, "just like the tip line on a restaurant receipt."

Oh god... Our elected officials are as dumb as Fark Trolls. :(

Sounds like a fine idea. And capital gains should be counted as regular income. Doing those two things would go a long way with dealing with the deficits. There will be a lot of spending cuts too. This is called 'negotiating' and 'compromise', something that the GOP hasn't done in good faith since the black guy won.

These guys are not a majority of "rich business types". There is more money buying lowered taxes. It's not that hard to figure out.

Which would all make more sense if the millionaires there were indeed all (or even most) of them. These people are traitors to their class.

Probably because they know the government will spend it more foolishly than they ever would. It's the equivalent of giving a month's pay to a homeless man knowing full well that he's going to drink it all away.

Because their current budget plans are all closely tied to expected tax income as it is... That's why we're deficit neutral. Wait...
