Maybe they can sign Rapelisberger to take his place?

He accidentally a touchdown one day in the 1970's. Why is he still being paid attention to?

They were saying the football program under Joe was at fault

and they were correct.

The Casino, interestingly, is located in Sandusky's home town.

Every time something comes up in this case, even tangentially, there seems to always be some sort of "weird' connection.

Ordinarily I'd say it's stupid to fire someone just for voicing a dissenting opinion; but when your job is PR and being a public face, you have to choose your words carefully.

You see, it's funny because unless you advocate locking everyone in Penn State inside the library and setting the building on fire, you must love shoving your dick in young boys.

FTFA: "They were saying the football program under Joe was at fault."

and that would be correct.

funny how that works. if you're hired to schmooze gamblers at a shiat casino it's best not to say anything that could upset folks. it's actually probably best to talk about the weather and that one catch you made or not.

Uh, no, I'm fairly certain that people who hold far less extreme views than that don't love shoving dicks into young boys. I don't think shoving dicks into young boys is as common as folks in and around Penn State seem to believe these days. That's sort of why everyone else seems a tad upset about all of this.

The advocacy part only applies to people not from Pennsylvania. If you are from Pennsylvania it is assumed you must love shoving your dick in young boys. Unless you're female and lack a dick, then it's assumed you support it quietly because that's what people from Appalachian states do.

1) Franco is not in the HOF for just one catch, you asshats.
2) He's not advocating child rape, you asshats.
3) He stating his opinion, you asshats, that Joe Paterno was treated unfairly (subjective) and the BoT, those asshats, fired him without due process or a hearing (objective).
4) The casino can fire him for whatever reason they want, and are being asshats for publicly stating the reason for firing him. What those asshat attention whores are really saying is that "we want some publicity, too."
5) Jerry Sandusky is [allegedly] a vile, manipulative, lying, child-raping, monstrous tool. He wishes that he was only an asshat. I just hope that the charges stick and the asshat prosecutors, who dropped the ball on this once already, don't screw it up again.

See what Super Chronic said above--if your job is public relations, you have to watch what you say. Having an opinion and expressing that opinion are two different things. If expressing your opinion is detrimental to your employer, then you should expect to be fired for doing so.

feefifofimmy-

Franco is asserting that Sandusky's access to Penn State's facilities was ordered somehow not by the football program itself. He's a Grade-A moron. That chicken ain't worth farking.

Naw. Only close down the departments that rape children and protect the faculty members who rape children. So far that is only the football program, the childhood development program and whichever department Penn State is allowing Lasaga to publish under as a Penn State professor while he serves his 20 year sentence for raping a child. Im sure that the rest of Penn State would never endorse child rape or give guys who rape kids the time of day..

I agree that the casino was in their rights to fire him as a PR guy. I still think they were trolling for publicity, because I doubt that the first thing that people thought of when they heard Franco's comments was, "Hey, isn't that the guy from the casino?"

Franco is a successful business man in his own right. The casino gig was probably for peanuts and a publicity stunt on their part to begin with. I'm sure he doesn't give a rat's ass about it, so the casino is trying to generate publicity for themselves by putting the story out.

I have quite a few friends who are Penn State alumni. For the most part, they have been pretty disgusted by everything that's come to light so far about Sandusky and are pretty saddened over how many victims he had. I have zero contempt towards them and do not in any way hold them responsible just for having gone to a school where the administration epically farked up and tried to cover up a child abuse scandal.

As for people who actually defend the individuals responsible for said coverup, that's a completely different story.

Sandusky is sick.
Paterno deserved to get fired.

This guy didn't deserve to get fired for an opinion.

That's what I'm getting out of this too.

They have a right to fire Franco if they want to, sure. I am very upset by the scandal at Penn State and agree with Paterno's firing (he farked up big time), but lately it seems that PSU and other orgs are trying to expiate guilt or toot their own horns just by piling it on Paterno and anyone who remotely supports him. The focus needs to be on prosecuting the case, providing for victims of abuse, and preventing abuse. I understand that finger-pointing is cathartic, but at the end of the day it's not the most productive thing.

Freedom of speech refers to right to say what you want without legal retribution and not the right to say what you want without social ramification.

Gilbert Gottfried, Hank Williams Jr., and the Dixie Chicks can help Franco understand what he did wrong here.

Heh...reminds me of that radio bit some station did - "Harry Caray calls the first baseball game":

"The sodomites are in town next week... Good seats still available. There's a dangerous team. They'll let you get on top of them, but they almost always come from behind..." (paraphrased)

2011-11-17 12:30:49 PM
It's outrageous that he has an opinion that is not lock-step in order with everyone else's. He should have his posessions taken by the government and any children turned over to social services, as well as never being allowed to hold any job again.

I saw that Franco speech on tv, and wondered why he was white knighting a pedo so much. Then it occurred to me, here is a guy whose whole career fame is based on a fraudulent catch. Pedo State alum, Stealer hall of famer, defending a pedo who rapes 10 year old boys. Quite a body of work there, mister 5 yards and out of bounds guy.

"Walkin' Papers." They say this when someone gets fired. "Look at Davy - yeah, they give him his walkin' papers today!" I've been fired a lot of times - never got any of these so-called "walkin' papers!" Never even got a pink slip...you know what I would get? A guy would come over to my desk and say "GET THE F*CK OUTTA HERE!!!!" Yeah...you don't need papers for that." - George Carlin

Thanks for telling Fark about my pee hands, btw.

2011-11-17 12:37:30 PM
Brother_Mouzone: i do find it slightly unfair that Paterno is becoming the face of the scandal. He deserved to be fired, but IMHO the order of people who should be vilified are

1. Sandusky (obvious tag)

I dont even want to put 2 because it should be so far distanced from 1.
but nonetheless I would put Mcquery second, and then the two higher ups Paterno told who did nothing, then the President of the School, and then Paterno.

Paterno is the "face" of the scandal because he is by far the most famous, visible and influential, and because he was the face of an institution that prided itself on operating with honor and integrity - values that were absent from his response. The disproportionate attention he is receiving is for that reason; other figures like McQueary, Curley, and Schultz may be (as far as we know) more culpable, but publicly ragging on relative nobodies isn't as satisfying or ratings-boosting. Is that fair? Yes and no.

Punishment is a deterrent. I just don't want the CYA crowds at PSU and elsewhere to get the idea that hammering Paterno et al. into the ground is a substitute for solving harder problems, like the pernicious nature of institutional culture, the stigma of abuse/rape victims, the need to practice vigilance against child molestation without freezing out REAL caring men and father figures, etc. etc.
