Yet the women are still some of the hottest in the world.

Can the fat ones now be called "Norwegian-Americans"?

or is it "American-Norwegians"?

It's all George Bush's fault. America's cultural imperialism is wrecking the health of the world! It's obvious!

aising taxes....the solution to all problems

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but as a counter example, the US just lowered taxes by quite a bit and they're in a world of shiat economically and in nearly every other category. Maybe it's time to raise them again.

Raise the taxes.

Great idea. That way, muggers will know who to target.

"Ja, ve go after ze fat one, Sven. He is be-ink shure to haf much cash!"

Space Coyote,

Not only did they lower our taxes, but we also got some great "kiddie rebates". Guess what we did with ours?

We spent it.

Good for the economy, not bad.

2003-10-05 11:30:40 AM
We need to include something like "France surrenders" on weight links... Something like "Americans still tubs of lard". Or something more witty perhaps?

2003-10-05 11:38:35 AM
I like how so many who are in favor of raising taxes probably don't have to pay them anyway.

On made in China electronics and made in Malaysia garments, no doubt.

Wrong.

On landscaping our home with plants from our local greenhouse. I also bought a Remington 870 Express 12g shotgun with 3 different chokes for deer hunting and (hopefully)turkey and goose hunting. However, if China or Malaysia were to produce a firearm as effective and sold it for less, I'd probably consider buying it. That's capitalism.

What an amusingly antiquated concept of economics...

Possibly one of the more clueless comments I've seen on Fark in a week. And since this is Fark, that's sayed a lot. Whatever problems America may have economically, they're doing better in nearly every other category than most every other major economy (and by default are doing better than most developing economies) - and that includes China. Just because you don't _read_ about that stuff doesn't mean it's not the case. Economics is a fascinating subject, and one most people know precious little about. Get a book or 20.

As for the Chinese electronics and Malaysian garments ... really, get a book.

Yes, the solution to all problems here in Scandinavia: Raise taxes!

2003-10-05 12:44:41 PM
Not sure what that has to do with anything? Dude, try reading the article.

emma, that only proves that political extremities are to be avoided, just like in religion.

Less than 30 percent of men measured in Kazakhstan were deemed overweight, while in Norway, more than 50 percent were.

Kazakhstan????

Good comparison.

Musmatta: Are you suggesting that Norway is a country of political extremes? Well, I see you're from 'sta bror', which explains a lot, but still... the major problem in 'wegian politica this day is that every farking party - except AKP(ml), RV and FrP (The workers comunist party (marxist-lenisists), Red Electionaliance and the ProgresParty (whiuch are so blue they are brown in the edges)) are heapign together in a great big cuddle near the political center...

As for the article itself.. Well, I see very few obverweight males in my workplace - but then, we're a select bunch *smiles*
