Do we actually ever punish anyone for being in the country illegally? I mean, is there any other law that is so casually enforced? Why isn't speeding tickets enforced the same way with just shrugging our shoulders and ignoring it?

Want to raise your taxes? The immigration court is booked into 2014. There just aren't enough ICE agents to deal with the deportations and IJ personnel to get through the appeals (yes, they get appeals). What kind of deportation order was it? Is he under supervision and has to check in? Does he have any application or petitions pending (such as asylum)? Does he qualify to stay under a special program?
