You have it all wrong, sparky. I love the 1st amendment and think that as long as you are peaceful - you should assemble and protest the government.

But I also have a brain that knows we live in a new police state. One where you are groped by TSA thugs at airports. One where the police are brainwashed into framing you for crimes you didn't commit simply for questioning there intentions.

For this, I warn the occupiers: When you see the police march - RUN! Run as fast as you can lest you be shot and framed for inciting a riot.

Here's the difference. The powers-that-be in this country do not fear the Tea Party. Because they know that the Tea Party will show up for a Saturday afternoon and wave signs while sitting in lawn chairs and Rascals. There was no government response because no one was scared.

Now consider the government response to the OWS movement. OWS must be doing something, because mayors across the country are flipping out like terrified third-world dictators.

Which of these two movements do you think the government and people who run this country are actually scared of?

If you protest a nuclear train in California by laying down on the tracks, you can not expect the train to stop in a timely manner to allow you to keep your legs.

Such is the state of our liberal protests. They have unreasonable expectations of how they think they should be treated. As a casual observer of our modern police state, I can only warn them to do EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO AVOID CONFLICT WITH THE POLICE. But hey, when I post a warning here, I am attacked by the leftists that haven't got a clue as to what really happens in a national crisis, natural emergency or protest.

//It was during Katrina relief activities that I had the barrel of an AK-47 pointed at my face for trying to engage in restoration activities in the curfew zone. I learned quickly that army/police goons will follow orders from above without regard to the constitutionality of the order.

Maybe you should RTFA first. The 84-year old woman wasn't even one of the occupiers and she still ended up being pepper sprayed to the point that it was dripping off her face. How would you like it if someone did that to your grandma?

FTA...Rainey, a community activist since the '60s, decided to walk by the protest on her way to a transportation meeting in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I've known several cops and every one of them was a freaking psychopath who I'm convinced just joined up hoping that they could legally shoot someone in the face someday. I know not all of them are like that, but the job attracts those types of personalities.

A friend of mine went all the way through, got his badge and quit after two weeks because he said most of his coworkers were exactly like that and he couldn't deal with it.

No, she wasn't part of the protest. She was walking by the protest area when she ended up getting pepper sprayed when the police blocked off the crowd with their bicycles. In other words, she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

From the link within the article (from The Strange)...the cops shoved their bicycles into the crowd and simultaneously pepper sprayed the so captured protesters.

Nah, the facts win this round. Personally, I think it unwise to direct one's stroll to a de facto enclave town set up in opposition to and in violation of the city government, because such a place is just where one might expect the crushing fist of the city government to come slamming down, but this poor woman might not have my heightened political awareness.

Yep, Bush signed it. Obama extended it and Obama's Homeland Security is conducting field trials on crowd control at the expense of the Occupy movement participants.

When it is all said and done and you are staring down the hot gun barrel, you really don't care who is to blame as much as you pray that there are enough witnesses that you will not be snuffed and given a throw down gun to give the shooters a justifiable reason to pop you.

The Occupy Seattle group doesn't camp at Westlake anymore, but they were still gathering there to protest during the day/evening/weekends. Not so much when I want over there a couple of hours ago.
