1 in 9000 don't even need the meds, they just use them as a crutch, a talking point, or a reason to make people give them attention.

/my opinion..I'm SURE I'm wrong.

Three of the voices in my head concur. The other one is Gerald, but nobody ever listens to him.

It'll be so cool when the government takes over health care and label 1 in 5 Americans truly mentally ill because of the medication they take.

Headline has me thinking about my depression again. That never happens.

Ugh. My family wants me to be drugged. Have an appointment this week...

I wonder what the rate for those who used to take something but fixed their lives?

I guess what I mean is, how many Americans have been on a mental disorder medication(assuming this includes depression) as one point in their lives?

And take away their right to vote Republican.

Why wouldn't they? You can go to almost any primary physician in America and walk out with a script for any number of drugs.

Its the reason you can go in any pharmacy and see people flood in with Prozac and Oxycontin scripts like they're going out of style. It's not the increase in mental and physical issues...it's the fact that it takes NO real diagnosis to get these drugs.

This is why we shouldn't have single payer healthare or insurance.

I self-medicate for my anxiety disorder with marijuana. It works wonderfully.

2011-11-16 02:46:23 PM
That few? Why do I always get odd looks from medical professionals when I answer "what prescriptions do you regularly take" with "None"?

Maybe I look like I ought to be medicated.

2011-11-16 02:47:08 PM
The pharmaceutical industry sees your wild PR gambit and ups you 2 additional new disorders, per the DSM, that can magically be managed with medication.

2011-11-16 02:47:09 PM
I wouldn't be the one in five except for one thing: Getting off the damn drugs is brutal.

The original issue I started taking the meds for is long gone but the bloody withdrawal is horrible. I've been slowly reducing my dosage but it's taking forever to ween myself off the damn things.

The other 4 haven't heard of Justin Bieber.

I'm already receiving government health care, silly. I use the VA.

As mental illness affects roughly 20% of the populace, this is totally not shocking, and I'm absolutely not outraged by this non-news.

I wish i could, this whiskey is killing me but some plants are illegal in my backwards state.

Personally, I make a little extra scratch selling them at Raves and the local middle school.

Effexor almost completely killed my liver. The alcohol didn't help before that, but the Effexor pushed it over the edge.

I probably would've been better off just drinking.

I drink BECAUSE it makes me feel miserable. Amidoinitrite?

My ex told me I drank too much. 2-4 beers per evening most nights. But I take no meds, don't have any psych issues, sleep like a baby, and make it to work each day. She didn't drink, but she took Prozac, Ambien, and Xanax. I'll stick to beer, being single, and not having anyone biatch at me.

Yeah, that's true. I smoke it when I have a cold, or the flu, or my head hurts, or I'm bored. It treats a lot of things.

I wouldn't be surprised. That stuff gives one dry mouth and it seems like in the last decade no one can go an hour without sucking on a water bottle.

I unfortunately also drink a lot to relax. If pot was legal, I bet I would switch to see if that worked better. I don't want to take Prozac or anything like that.

The alcohol is rough on my body though.... 8-(

I don't take my meds because BANANA GAKGAKGAK I really feel fine SNIRK and I'm totally normal WUBWUBWUB.

2-4 beers is perfectly okay, it's just getting blotto every night is probably not good.

Pretty much everyone I know uses some sort of big pharma induced reality crutch. It's called life people, maybe you should try it sometime.

/I'll stick with the occasional gin & tonic as my anti-anxiety drugs, thanks...

Are you adult age?
What do you want?

The really fun thing (from a documentary I watched awhile ago) is that we're all taking them, even if it's just in very small quantities.

Seems that water treatment facilities purify the water to remove harmful pathogens. Unfortunately, all of the people on anti-anxiety and anti-depressants (among others) are pissing them into the water supply, where they remain after the water has been purified.

/google "antidepressants in water supply" for more fun stuff

I've been wondering if Rick Perry is medicated. It doesn't make sense for him to be "drunk" on stage. I can't see his handlers giving him a shot of tequilla before a debate. I can see them giving him a Xanax to cope with the stress. I can see them I think he is using a barbituate like Xanax. Barbituates have a similar affect as alcohol. The cause slurred speech. They can cause confusion.

These are just a few of the images we've recorded. And you can see, it wasn't what we thought. There's been no war here and no terraforming event. The environment is stable. It's the Pax. The G-23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate that we added to the air processors. It was supposed to calm the population, weed out aggression. Well, it works. The people here stopped fighting. And then they stopped everything else. They stopped going to work, they stopped breeding, talking, eating. There's 30 million people here, and they all just let themselves die.

Thing is, even in the awesome state of Colorado where pot is legal, depression or other mental health issues don't qualify for the license.

/eye surgery does though
//does 50x the job for P.T.S.D. than any pharmaceutical drug I've taken, without the nasty side effects

Thats because marijuana grows naturally in your closet and the big pharm companies cant make a buck off it.

/Been on Paxil for close to 10 years now, when I probably should've gone with psychotherapy. Tried weening off the medication under a nurse practitioner's direction a couple years ago and became suicidal, so I'm still on it for the time being.

Of course it is...big Pharma would never have it any other way. Also, local, state and of course the Feds make too much money on the War On Drugs TM.
