I don't get the outrage. He was not employed with the government when he took their money.

as opposed to Pelosi and the other corrupt members of congress accepting insider trading hints (bribes) before key votes.

democrats-focus your outrage on people in power. Not some washed up philanderer that had to resign from office in disgrace.

Responding to reports that housing giant Freddie Mac paid him $1.6 million, GOP presidential contender Newt Gingrich said he didn't know exactly how the transaction came to be.

I guess that's strictly a wealthy person problem. I still remember that time I won $25 on scratch and win bingo.

A pair of sunglasses powerful enough to contain Callista's Manson Lamps could easily cost that much.

Unless the X-Men had a yard sale.

I'm surprised it took almost 3 days for the the next clown shoe to drop in the Republican Rodeo.

This guy is just compulsively dishonest, isn't he? Even in the middle of a presidential bid, he can't stop cheating and lying.

Your point being? How many Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac execs are in jail?

/I will be waiting for AG Holder to get through with his investigation.

//The real question should be: How much money did they pay Barney Frank's boyfriend to keep the gooberment off their backs during their run into the ground?

//At least Newtster earned his cash - as opposed to Obama (who as a senator had to let Mr. Rezko buy/sell property and get favorable mortgage conditions for his mansion).

You know this was leaked by another Republican campaign, right? I'm kind of embarrassed at the politics-boner their infighting is giving me.

"I have no idea about the details... It was paid to Gingrich Group. Gingrich Group has many clients," said Gingrich.

I wish I had so much money flying at my business I didn't know how a couple cool million got there.

In other news, I took rolled pennies into the bank to pay my electric bill.

What are the odds that Newt shows up on Hannity claiming it was all a huge misunderstanding?

2011-11-16 02:48:05 PM
Didn't Freddie Mac go under the day the economy went away? How is it even possible for someone to get money from them at this point?

Good question.

It's not like he gave half a billion dollars to crooks in a solar panel company that was destined to go under. Or a speaker of the house who has been insider trading. It's not like he gave guns to mexican drug cartels that were used to kill a US citizen in order to get negative support for gun rights. It's not like he hired a tax CHEAT to be his tresuary secretary.

Ohh thats right. Thats liberal behavior! ;-D

Pollexabator: I'm surprised it took almost 3 days for the the next clown shoe to drop in the Republican Rodeo.

You mean the "I'm not Romney" rodeo. I can't believe how hard the republicans are tryin to pretend he's not there. The full on equivalent I sticking fingers in ear and yelling "lalalalalalala" at this point.

Get over his Mormon faith and you might have a shot at a race. Continue on this path and enjoy making a spectacle of your party, AGAIN.

2011-11-16 02:49:52 PM
So weird. Romney's support stays steady, while the tea party crowd switches which candidate they are backing on a near weekly basis

He doesn't know if he got that much money, but he knows why someone might want to give him that much money:

"I know a great deal about Washington and if you want to change Washington, we just tried four years of amateur ignorance and it didn't work very well."

"Having somebody who knows Washington might be a really good thing," Gingrich said.

F/F lobbying arms served as the biggest slush fund, ever (for just about anyone who might `touch' the agencies). As Kyle Bass observed, in his testimony before the FCIC, "Why should agencies created by Congress have to lobby Congress?"

Good question, Kyle.

A partial list, with amounts (total to all `players' - in or out of power ~$200 million): http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/09/update-fannie-mae-and-freddie. html

They hired him as an adviser. He told them not to go ahead with their plan to get the banks to give credit to people who could not afford the house they wanted to buy. He was a paid adviser, nothing more.

C-SPAN Archives: Speaker Gingrich discussed his recent decision to resign as Speaker of the House and from Congress - Nov 9, 1998

It is downright surreal just how much bullshiat this man can shovel. Awww, look at his loving wife in the front row supporting him in his time of need...

A) money to Solyndra was allocated in 2008 by the GWB administration

B) no indication that the Solyndra folks were crooks. They may have spent the money unwisely but they weren't scamming the system

C) Solyndra failed because the cost to manufacture solar panels fell faster than anticipated which is a good thing in the grand scheme of things

D) I agree Bush appointee Geithner should be fired and replaced by any old schmoe from H&R Block

Yup. I went out and bought 8 more tickets with the winnings, naively thinking that I had discovered the perfect money making scheme. I was 18 and felt like I knew all the answers. Needless to say, I learned my lesson.

Nah, they have plenty of money. Millions in executive bonuses this year.

Was their wrongdoing? If so, crucify him. If not, quit trying to make news with gotcha questions. So let him or the cfo look at the records and see what the details of this deal were.

Ask someone the specific details of a payment their business got a few years ago and if he doesn't remember the exact circumstances then act like there was some crime? Seriously, how retarded.

Breaking news: Huge company received a payment from another huge company several years ago. More at 11.

The sad part is that every one of these POS republican contenders are less corrupt than Obama. We are in for a world of hurt for the next 5 years. Lets all just vote for the fark squirrel. I at least he has balls and isn't on the payroll of tax dollar whore.

I'd like to know what percentage of the population remembers WHY Newt had to resign the Speakership in disgrace? It wasn't because he was banging chicks on the side, and it wasn't because he was a terrible Speaker who got his ass handed to him by Clinton over the government shutdown (although both of those are true). It was because he took bribes in the form of shady book deals and other corruption, and got caught lying about it. Why would anyone be surprised when he gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar? HIS HAND NEVER LEAVES IT.
