I always found this argument from the GOP self-defeating. Yes, the Democrats are not socialists, as we have been saying. Being for things like healthcare reform or letting the Bush tax cuts expire and for capitalism are not mutually exclusive concepts.

Ergo, the republicans are a bunch of self loathing poors.

You're expecting logical thought from a Republican blog, why?

Can't possibly be true.

All I ever hear is how Democrats hate evil rich people. So obviously no Democrat is rich...

Wendy's Chili: CLASS WARFARE!

AH! THE DEMORATS HAVE THE REPUBLICANS SURROUNDED!

Then I'll thank the American public and GOP to stop criticizing these job creators.

Not expecting logical thought, just commenting on them screaming "CLASS WARFARE" in the morning and "YOU INHERITED YOUR MONEY YOU COMMIE" in the afternoon

Yeah they're rich. And they think they should pay more in taxes. What's... what's the problem here?

2011-11-16 01:06:45 PM
wait, are you saying being rich is bad?

2011-11-16 01:09:17 PM
You'd think conservatives would be in much better shape considering how much time they spend moving goalposts.

Cyberluddite: And . . . so? Is there a point, Subs?

A certain segment of the Republican base is apparently under the impression that if you don't like to see rich people abusing their influence, it is the adjective "rich" rather than the verb "abusing" that is the problem.

2011-11-16 01:35:59 PM
nekom: Yeah they're rich. And they think they should pay more in taxes. What's... what's the problem here?

That.

I'll support the "millionaires who think millionaires should pay more" group over the "millionaires who think millionaires should pay less while the poor and middle class pays more" group any day.

Oh and as to why some rich people don't mind advocating paying more taxes, I think Bill Gates summed it up best:

I can understand wanting to have millions of dollars, there's a certain freedom, meaningful freedom, that comes with that. But once you get much beyond that, I have to tell you, it's the same hamburger.

rich liberals: "we need to raise taxes on the rich to help the poor."
rich conservatives: "fark you, i've got mine"

figures Gary would say the conservatives are more moral.

2011-11-16 02:33:28 PM
well look how easy it is to earn money when you are a member of congress. Businesses fall all over themselves to give you the lottery ticket to their exclusive IPO's and insider trading hints.

What moron in the democrat party wouldn't exploit her/his position for capital gain? Certainly not Mr. Nancy Pelosi, stock market genius.

PJ Media. The people who hired Not Joe the Not Plumber to report on the ME conflict.

Gary. Who didn't know that Nixon resigned.

Yeah, have the thread. I'm going to clip my toenails or something equally as important.

I never said that. You asserted rich liberals were all moral and shiat. Yea, Madoff, Corzine, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank..yea..all Gods of morality.

Newsflash, morality, or lack thereof is universal.

This will probably get more pronounced with time, as the Citizens United decision means that business can pour unlimited cash into the campaigns of ridiculously conservative buffoons, while the only Democrats who can compete will be the super-rich.

while he was supposedly laughing hysterically?

I'm still trying to figure out what the problem with limousine liberals is. Obviously these Limousine Liberal people don't have a problem with rich people, and don't fear getting taxed more. And they're good enough at managing their businesses that they're riding around in limos, so they're not socialists.

Is this sort of how it's impossible to square the Freedom of Religion with a Christian state? Or "Family Values" with what the right believes about the families of gay people? Or . . .

Huh, I think I just almost fell into an infinite loop there.

And, the wealthy Democrats tend to inherit their money. Republicans tend to earn it.

What a trolly conclusion. You'd think if this were true across the board that R's would be in favor of the "death tax" instead of working their damnedest to get it abolished.
