I wanted to go to Space Camp so badly when I was younger. We were pretty poor though, so mom took me on a trip to see Wright Patterson AFB and the Smithsonian Air & Space museum (which happened to have a Star Wars exhibit at the time).

It's still a dream of mine to work for NASA some day.

Be a NASA astronaut? And go where exactly? We have no lifter.

You are aware that a NASA astronaut arrived at the ISS today right?

So how much of their $18bn budget did NASA spend on their first ever recruitment video?

Judging from the production quality of that video, I'd say about a dollar three ninety eight?

Quite. maybe it's a very clever attempt to get additional funding SO THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO RELY ON SOMEONE ELSE TO GET US INTO SPACE.

......

Sorry about that. Meds wearing off....

Bush ended the NASA program. Not Obama. Do you blame sports events on Obama as well? Just because something happens concomitantly with the Obama Administrations tenure does not imply a causal relationship.

Yes, shrub set an end to the shuttle, with another program hot on its heals to get us back in the game.

Zero had the opportunity to push back the term date allowing further missions and chose not to.

Instead, after promising increased NASA budget and MORE jobs to the area, he gutted NASA and killed our next-gen lifter.

You're missing the big picture. There are humans in Earth orbit. One of them happens to be an American representing NASA. He is an astronaut AND HE FLEW INTO FARKING SPACE ON A FREAKING ROCKET AND IS NOW FLOATING IN GODDAMN SPACE.

So while he was doing something extraordinary, you biatch about politics. I wonder why you're not an astronaut?

I already busted you on the causal relationship zero had in canceling the next lifter

Now lets continue...

Zero's bank bailout Exceeded the 50 year budget of NASA.. That's the entire Mercury, Apollo (Including multiple moon landings) and decades of Shuttle missions. And zero threw more away in his ~3 years. If it were bush in office you'd be screaming bloody murder.

Not thanks to NASA, Russia put him up.

Not thanks to NASA, Russia put him up. He might as well be a Russian astronaut.

Caps lock... unleash the rage.
He's up there due to Russian capabilities, not ours.

Straw man. Why aren't you one :o)

As someone who was working at NASA when this whole thing happened (and consequently is no longer working there), I'd like to point out that they are both responsible for the mess we currently have. Bush set an unreasonable timeline for Shuttle retirement and refused to budge when he was in office and Constellation looked hopeless. Obama took over and also refused to alter the timeline before it was too late. At some point in both of their tenures in office, they had an opportunity to extend Shuttle or support Constellation, and they did not do it. They both dragged their feet and let things go downhill (although in different ways). Both to blame.

It really is amazing how many people think that this all boils down to a single person making a single bad decision.
