This is certainly a negative story with a positive ending. I hope his medical care was free of charge.

2011-11-16 09:00:56 AM
I bet he was bi-polar.

2011-11-16 09:52:53 AM
I was hoping he lived in DC.

2011-11-16 09:58:56 AM
He'll probably do it again. Kids that do this sort of thing tend to keep going, and going, and going...

2011-11-16 10:13:41 AM
Anode this would be greenlit.

2011-11-16 10:36:06 AM
Someone's going to end up in a cell for this.

These constant puns in the headlines are not very energizing.

Shocking

This is powerful stuff. I'm glad the boy is currently doing OK.

Ohm my God, what a story. I hope the parents stayed grounded.

More proof that child battery is wrong.

2011-11-16 10:40:02 AM
I hope they checked his electrolytes.

/They are what plants crave.

I wonder watt kind of battery it was. A small child doesn't have the capacitance for a large 12 volt car battery. I would bet there was wrong doing if that's true; children put up a load of resistance when you do that. Next thing you know, the brand of battery is going to have a tarnish reputation when the incident's news is amplified, distorted, transformed by some not so Farads from competitors. How revolting.

/Ohm, watt was I talking about?

I think I have enough resistance to contributing to the puns that I won't put down a long post.

You're going to get railed for that. Electrical puns are a hot topic.

They're really going to have to keep an eye on this kid, this kind of behavior is only the beginning. Pretty soon he'll start pounding out agression, and it will quickly turn into an obsession...

2011-11-16 10:47:46 AM
This kid has potential.

2011-11-16 10:47:58 AM
No one is ever ready for this.

BurnShrike: More proof that child battery is wrong.

Ok, that was funny, but please It's getting less and less punny.

I wish that they come up with backs that stay on better. My son always played with the tabs as he watched TV. Of course that meant all my remotes ended up having tape around them. He always denied it, But not one tab has broken off since he moved out. 2+2 stills equals 4, right?

2011-11-16 10:55:28 AM
This sort of thing doesn't come up in the news very often. Good to know these occurrences are so low in frequency.

FTFA:
Chacon has started a non-profit to raise awareness about the dangers that batteries can pose to kids if swallowed.

Because... you know... parents dont know that kids arent supposed to eat batteries.

/It sucks that this happened, but I get tired of all these people trying to fix things that arent broken just because they personally are a farkup.

2011-11-16 10:57:42 AM
I'm glad it was a short article.

Karla Rauch says no one saw Emmett swallow the battery from the remote control.

He's lucky that doctors were able to make the connection.

2011-11-16 12:40:38 PM
If he resists treatment, ground him.

2011-11-16 01:43:28 PM
At least he got a much-needed dose of lithium.

2011-11-16 02:28:05 PM
I'd keep an ion him.

alechemist: ohm these puns hertz.

Personally, I'm the opposite. I think we should have mho of them, with higher frequency.

Old remotes (TV r, etc) from the early to mid 80's, you used to have to dig out a screwdriver to change the battery. Guess either the screws were costing too much for the companies or people biatched that they didn't have a screwdriver or were clueless how to use one.

Two more batteries and some amalgam fillings and the kid would've been broadcasting in the AM range.
