Karl Rove, I love you!

/Twisted movie

Poor Karl. Had his time in the limelight as Turdblossom and now he can't get any respect.

What Karl Rove thinks is of little importance to me.

However, I do love that Liz Warren has that tub of lard and his merry band of simpletons' panties in such a knot they're already attacking her and she hasn't even won the nomination in MA yet...

This would be the guy that bussed people in to healthcare townhalls to scream constantly and prevent anyone else from speaking, right?

Umm, I think we lost that during the civil war when the south tried to occupy their own states and lost.

Karl Rove said he created the internet.

If Rove wants to be heard he can get on farking Fox News. The Occupiers can't do that unless they're being called lazy or communists.

2011-11-16 11:36:23 AM
Rove is evil, but he's an evil genius. You're not gonna beat him like this. It just made him look better to the rest of the people in the room.

2011-11-16 11:36:24 AM
Is funny. I was led to believe Rove was some kind of mastermind. He handled himself like a 12-yr-old with that crowd though. "I know you are but what am I"? Jeez....

/had me fooled

What exactly are the Occupy Whatever people trying to accoplish? They don't seem to have a particular law passed or repealed, at least not one I can figure out. Yeah, we get it, you hate the banks and Wall Street. Whoopie-farking-do.

2011-11-16 11:37:40 AM
Karl Rove is a dick but not allowing people to speak is not using your first amendment rights, it's preventing others from using theirs. The government is not the only entity that can abuse its power.

Fark has no edit function, so when you leave out a couple words in your post you have to post it again. Here we go (new text in bold):

What exactly are the Occupy Whatever people trying to accoplish? They don't seem to have a particular law they want passed or repealed, at least not one I can figure out. Yeah, we get it, you hate the banks and Wall Street. Whoopie-farking-do.

2011-11-16 11:39:22 AM
What Rove doesn't understand is that rights aren't "granted" by anyone. They are inalienable, and the Constitution serves to explicitly protect certain ones.

Ironically, the whole point of the Constitution is to protect those rights...from people like Karl Rove.

The First Amendment only regulates what the government can do. So in that case, yes it is.

JammerJim: Karl Rove is a dick but not allowing people to speak is not using your first amendment rights, it's preventing others from using theirs.

A private entity like those protesters cannot violate the first amendment protections of another private entity like Karl Rove. The protesters are not limited by the Constitution, they are protected by it.

The government is not the only entity that can abuse its power.

From a Constitutional Perspective, they are. Words have meanings, and the words "First Amendment" refer to a Constitutional limitation on Government Power, and literally nothing more.

When the Freedom Riders encircle the scum from Westboro Baptist so that their hate cannot disrupt a soldier's funeral, are they (the riders) violating their (the WBCs) "First Amendment Rights?" Of course not, they (the riders) are simply exercising their rights more loudly.

Bingo... and I think the OWS folks have already accomplished something that's pretty amazing. They've helped focus the public conversation on something that not many folks in power were talking about previously - Financial inequality and the fact that our system is set up to reward avarice and benefit the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the poor and middle classes.

Where it goes from here, I don't know, but if they can keep people talking about this issue than I'd consider their efforts successful.

The folks who want to destroy democracy in this country are not the OWS folks, in my opinion, but rather the plutocrats and greedy bastards who see the country and it's people as nothing more than resources to be picked clean for their own financial benefit.

Please, both parties have turned "cry foul when they believe someone is stifling their freedom of speech" into a 24 hour news channel.

"First ones to cry foul" depends on what time you tuned in.

So how do they propose to fix...whatever exactly they want fixed...

I'll give an example of a protest that is easy to explain-the protests in the south in the 1960's were about blacks being descrimated against. The solution to that problem was to pass laws requiring equal treatment, which was done.

Riddle me this, Batman: The Occupy Whatever are about ??? The solution to that problem is to ???

I honestly don't get it. "The oligarchy/cleptocracy that our nation is becoming" is so vague as to be completely meaningless.

I would imagine he was paid quite well to come speak there by somebody. And he offered during the Q&A session that they could come up to the podium and ask any questions they wanted. He is an evil bastard, but the childish tactics of scream over and try to disrupt him are just that. If they had any strength of their ideas, they would have challenged him one on one at the podium.

You're saying that Rove is right and the protesters should STFU because their voice is intefering with the people who control basically the entire media in this country, and who have had the unopposed ability to speak for the last 3 decades?

You don't know much about the Civil Rights movement, huh? It was about far more than changes in the law.
