From a genre that celebrates binge drinking, cousin banging, chaw chewing, domestic abuse and fast car driving, I might be inclined to get my healthcare advice from someone else.

The rationing out of health care... isn't that how it is now?

Can conservatives ever get a celebrity spokesman who's worked in the last 15 years?

His argument is completely irrational. He points out that he was able to pay for the care of sick grand-daughter and if "Obamacare" passes then more people will have access to healthcare thus death panels.

Health Insurance Co.s already ration care. That's great if you pay for the kid's care but what about the one's that cannot. Where the Health Insurance Co.s in your state decide neurological disorders are not covered for kids (or anyone) because they are/were congenital and ultimately born with them thus a pre-existing condition. The more people who have access to healthcare the less it costs as less people would not have hospitals write off costs. Insurance Co.s can dictate what their own admin costs are and what is covered in one state differs from another state. As an oligopoly the person it hurts the most is the consumer.

Not that I was expecting an expert on healthcare but a rational human being can see more holes in his argument than domestic violence lyrics in country music.

Wait, what happened to Fox News and Real Americans telling musicians spouting off ignorant political opinions to "shut up and sing?"

Oh, right. IOKIYAR

He complained about how Medicaid in Hawaii now only allows a 10 day stay per year for each child and then kick them out to die at home.

Sounds like he is in favor of higher Medicaid taxes.

Am I supposed to know who this guy is, or am I supposed to assume he's super-awesome by the fact that he's a musician and automatically assume his opinion is worth a bajillion times what mine is worth?

He means that commoners might get in the way of the truly deserving... like the the children and grand-children of has-been country music stars who live off the royalties of one or two successful songs a few decades back.

If everybody has access to heathcare, then the ration currently monoploized by the rich and famous might become smaller.

(not really, because "money talks" and always will, but you can't blame him for being concerned... especially when yammering about those concerns on the TeeVee might help revive something that resembles his career in some form or fashion)

Yeah but medicaid funding helps with "Obamacare". Medicaid funding comes with conditions, however, enacted under Congress's authority to "to pay the debts and provide for the common defence and general welfare of the United States." Under the Affordable Care Act, the state will be required to expand Medicaid coverage (as part of the aim of universal coverage) in order to keep getting Medicaid funding. Medicaid funds are currently allocated by the States. Under "Obamacare" it states that the federal funding for medicaid is used on medical procedures and not some general fund they can dip into.

Looks like he's the spokesperson for the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network. Well that's nice.

Dumbass.

...and yet when progressive rock musician and noted climate scientist Bono weighs in on global warming, that's totally appropriate and nobody gets snarky or sarcastic.

/ what double standard?

2011-11-16 07:41:14 AM
Bono actually has taken some time to educate himself about the issues that he's vocal about. He might still be a douche, but at least he's an educated douche.

Other than the high cost (to me) Germany has a good system. Mandatory insurance for all, go where you like when you like, they push prevention (except for smoking cigs since 99% do), if you need care they give you care. The 15% of your income price tag seems a little painful... but it is a flat % for all and all receive equal care unless you shell out personal cash. It has problems too but at least the population seems happy with it mostly.

So many other countries have experimented with national heath care, why do our (retarded) politicians think they can make others failed issues work better. Should have reviewed all others and picked the best of what made others successful and avoided the failing policies in others. I think they did the opposite.

What do I know though since I am not a professional heath care policy creator interested in lining my pockets with campaign contributions from.... blah blah blah

Oh, I am sorry, he actually goes to those places hardest hit by famine, drought, and poverty. But what has this diabolical dumbass hick ever actually done at the grass roots level?

STFU if you don't have a clue, moron.

Well, he does live in the same trailer park as some of our favorite Fark Independents. Don't get more grassroots than that.

As for Bono, I don't mind that he has causes, but I just wish he wouldn't go on rants about them during concerts. I already know his views on poverty in Africa, so I don't need to hear it all again when I'm paying 200 bucks a ticket.

I'm sure the rest of the band doesn't appreciate having to stretch out the intro to "One" for more than six minutes.

I'm not generally a country music fan, but I actually did like his stuff and even saw him in concert a long time ago. From time to time my wife and I would wonder "Whatever happened to Collin Raye?".

I saw this and I told my wife, "Well, I found out what happened to him. He's become an overweight imbecile."
