When I met Frank Miller back in the mid-80s, he was very gracious and kind. His work was top-notch back then too.

I don't know what the hell has happened to him since, but he seems like a bitter old man whose work is mostly shiat now.

I was wondering why a website called "Big Hollywood" had nothing but far right wing commentators.
Then I noticed it said "Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood".

I think he's related to Charles Krauthammer.

Making good comics doesn't mean you have any political knowledge. He took some pot-shots at the media and government and found himself way over his head in a political conversation.

Reactionary conservatism is always favored by the ignorant because it's so easy.

Comics were a bastion of patriotism and family values?

When? 1945?

First off, Superman was created by Jewish immigrants. Hell, most of the major superheroes were.

And the real road Comics should have went down was the Bill Gaines EC Comics path. And they would have if jerkoff congressmen like Estes Kefauver hadn't invoked THINK OF TEH CHILDREN and started a huge farking witch hunt to blame comic books for everything from Juvenile Delinquency to J. Edgar Hoover's inability to quit crossdressing.

Comics were never meant to be superheroes and patriotic and full of family values... that was a fallback position taken by a bunch of scared publishers who needed to remain in business.

The author of TFA is absolutely right. Comics have gone to the dogs, thanks to the damn godless LIBERALS. We need to get back to the days when comics had good, wholesome, White Christian values!

That wholesome family comic tradition ended when Spider-Man #96 was published without the CCA stamp.

Once one of the majors thumbed their nose at the censors, it was only a matter of time before comics grew up.

And I should add, that was around 1971 so unless the author of TFA is older than I am, he doesn't remember the time of which he writes

Breitbart? Reactionary screeds? I understand Frank Miller has turned into the Michael Moriarty of comic-book writers.

I've said it before and I will say it again: Andrew Brietbart is a preening, effeminate fop. He imagines himself a political commentator but runs nothing more than a gossip rag. He has far more in common with Perez Hilton and Cindy Adams than he has with George Will or Rachel Maddow. I'd bet a paycheck that he has worn a nighty.

He adds nothing of value to the discussion and we, on both sides, only cheapen that discussion by including him.

FarKos is conflating a couple of different things. Comics (meaning the mainstream comics, not Zap etc) haven't necessary been "family values", but they've mostly been patriotic, sometimes ultra-patriotic, and never unpatriotic.

Having the Captain America line depict the Tea Partier as equivalent to the KKK is a pretty egregious example of the left-wing radicalism that worked its way into at least some line. In reality the movement is non-racist and non-violent, but they have Captain "America" attacking them. If a comic had Batman beating up a bunch of hippies depicting as assaulting and murdering people the same people here supportive of the modern day CA would be up in arms. Such is the hypocrisy of FarKos.
