Put them up against the wall and shoot them. With a gun that doesn't make any noise.

Not that I want to defend these sickos... but in America, it is legal to poison mice and let them slowly bleed to death internally. It's legal to trap them on a glue board until they either starve to death, smother themselves in the glue, or gnaw their limbs off and bleed to death. It's legal to trap them in a box with a one way door, and then dunk them in water.

I don't know what the law says in Germany, but I'd imagine the same pest control techniques are applied there as well.

How is this any different?

I'm afraid I'll see one of these uber-perverse fetish videos and come to realize it is exactly all that is missing in my life. And believe me, I've been actively not searching.

United_States v. Stevens (new window)
Crush videos (new window)

United States
In 1999, the United States Congress enacted a statute affecting the legality of crush films which criminalized the creation, sale, and possession of depictions of animal cruelty, though with an exception for "any depiction that has serious religious, political, scientific, educational, journalistic, historical, or artistic value."[5] In 2008, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit invalidated the ban on the sale and possession of such films (if not otherwise obscene) as a violation of the Constitution's guarantee for freedom of speech.[6] The United States Supreme Court affirmed the Third Circuit's decision in United States v. Stevens, finding the law unconstitutional because the law was so broad and vague that it included any portrayal of an animal in or being harmed such as by hunting or disease.[7] As of November 28, 2010, bill H.R. 5566, which prohibits interstate commerce in animal crush films, has been passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate, and as of December 9th, the bill has been signed by President Obama.[8]

Sick people.

In England you can smash grey squirrels' heads but drowning them is prosecutable animal cruelty.

I went to school with this guy who at one point ran this gang out of a drainage sump that used a logo inspired by "the wall" that eventually was arrested for making videos of him cross dressing and stomping on mice in heels. Link (vid of them in the sump.. yes one of them is wearing a wetsuit with a motorcycle helmet)

Not to mention if they were simply going to eat them or wear their pelts they could probably get away with much worse.

And it's always funny how the outrage seems to be reserved for the cute animals.

I'm surprised that she wouldn't be allowed into the US...it sounded to me like it was a pretty modest sentence. I don't know what the "felony equivalent" is in Germany, but a suspended sentence and 500 euros doesn't sound like felony-level stuff. Do we not let anyone who has ever been convicted of a crime into the US?

Confessor: Well... I was about seventeen and some mates and me went to a party, and, er... we had quite a lot to drink... and then some of the fellows there ... started handing ... cheese around ... and well just out of curiosity 1 tried a bit ... and well that was that.

Interviewer: And what else did these fellows do?

Confessor: Well some of them started dressing up as mice a bit ... and then when they'd got the costumes on they started ... squeaking.

Interviewer: Yes. And was that all?

Confessor: That was all.

Interviewer: And what was your reaction to this?

Confessor: Well I was shocked. But, er... gradually I came to feel that I was more at ease ... with other mice.

Ladies and gentlemen I have in this box twenty-three white mice. Mice which have been painstakingly trained over the past few years to squeak at a selected pitch. This is E sharp... and this one is G. You get the general idea. Noe these mice are so arranged upon this rack, that when played in the correct order they will squeak 'The Bells of St Mary's'. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you on the mouse organ 'The Bells of St Mary's'. Thank you.

I once stomped on a mouse, but I didn't make a video.

If you have mice in your apartment, you do what you can to get rid of them. Pizza crust works well in a mouse trap, use bread bag ties to keep the crust on the small metal killing platform.

It's all the same to the mice...

Frankly, I think that intent should be excluded from the legal system to the extent that it proves possible. It's just too hard to determine what someone's "intent" is in many cases (obviously not this one), too subjective as to what a reasonable person would do in the same situation, and too easy for emotionally swayed juries to let someone off with a slap on the wrist just because they're cute and can cry for an audience.
Criminal trials should be about facts, and "intent" can't be proven.

No but it makes the potential danger to society of the sadist more apparent. We define 'crimes' and create 'punishment' in a (possibly futile) attempt to create and sustain a society that can further itself through the cooperation at various levels of its constituents.

People who deliberately inflict pain on the powerless for their own sexual pleasure seem pretty likely to me to be more of a danger to that society than someone who (regretfully or not) removes a possibly disease-carrying pest from their house.

It isn't the loss of the mouse that harms us (even though some might regret it); it's what type of person has been exposed in our midst.
