I'm beginning to think that all major networks have a "sasbazooka likes it" alarm that goes off and automatically cancels the show.

Wow, two save community threads in one day. Didn't know it was this serious.

They should end it like Cougarton Abbey.

What was that Oliva Munn show that got shiatcanned, the one with The Watiress? That show was better than this farking Whitney show.

CANCEL Community? The second-best show on NBC? That would be like cancelling Law & Order.

Nobody watches it because it got way weird.

Canceling Community is the only way to ensure Evil-Troy and Evil-Abed don't take over the other timelines...

If I have to live in a world where Community isn't worthy of being aired, but Two and a half men, Mike & Molly, and 800 CSI's can stay on the air, then I will choose to live in a TV-less world.

Oh, and that photo from Entertainment Weekly with Alison Brie in the Phoebe Cates bikini from "Fast Times" should be an epic miniseries on HBO.

Just because they're canceling Cougarton Abbey Community doesn't mean we need to freak out.

Zactament. And EVERY OTHER genre. Which is why people who love TV love Community.

Stupid NBC.

Listen, people. I like Community. I think it's a good show. But I really just want to see Alison Brie naked more than anything.

That's all I got.

Last season's recap/flashback episode was every kinds of epic.

I refuse to believe that America just has bad taste in comedies. Sure, if you want to be negative, you can cite the continued success of Mike and Molly but Modern Family is also still insanely popular.

This is an NBC problem. You can't put a show that takes time and concentration to appreciate and set it against The Big Bang Theory and The X Factor! Just switch places with Whitney. Then you have a vapid-off at the 7:00 slot (8:00 in the heathen time zone) and Community can feast off the Office lead-in and having three dry procedurals as competition.

2011-11-15 12:44:45 PM
If "Community" goes, where will the Interwebs go to get its fix for delicious Alison Brie gifs? I can't think of a hotter woman on TV right now.

Can't argue with you on that one. She is all kinds of fine!

I'm thinking Community, the Movie! With a long soapy shower scene... Annie, Britta, lots of steamy, soapy fun... Umm, I'll be right back.

Community being cancelled would be a ridiculous move. NBC has such a great Thursday night comedy lineup right now. Except for Whitney

I was catching up on DVD, and that episode had me so confused for the first five minutes or so. I was thinking, "did I miss a disk, or are they farking with me?"

2011-11-15 12:53:23 PM
Yeah, I love Community and think it should be saved, but that list blows. Troy and Abed, yes, pop culture references, ok, and I'm starting to like the Dean more and more.

The rest was pretty stupid. A show should be saved because it has a monkey? And yeah, the paintball episodes are good, but I think Harmon is too creative to go back to that well a third time. "Britta-ing" as a thing just seems like it's trying too hard. And the guest stars are great, but really, you should save a show because of the people who aren't on the show? As far as holiday episodes, everybody does holiday episodes, which is why Community does them.

The show should be saved because it has a brilliant production team and talented actors. The things in this list are things that have existed in many shows over many decades. They aren't reasons for saving the show, it's the execution of those silly sitcom tropes that makes Community so awesome.

Big Bang Theory injects humor by having a geek dress up as the Flash for Halloween, because putting your character in a wacky costume = funny. Then they beat the idea over the head by coming back to the well again and again that this geek REALLY likes the Flash, by having him spout off stupid factoids that count as pop culture references.

But Community makes a joke about British TV, followed by a Doctor Who spoof, and THEN has characters dress up like the spoof characters the writers used to joke about British TV. So, you still get your characters in wacky costumes, but isn't it better the way Community does it?

Community executed some great concepts in season 2. Haven't seen any of 3 yet.

Just don't put too much Abbed in there. We get it, you like movies.

SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE!!!!

Seriously, this has put me in a funk. Community is the only show that reminds me of how much I used to enjoy shows like Night Court and Cheers. I haven't really enjoyed any other sitcom since those two went off the air until Community rolled around.

Greatness comes around very infrequently, don't fark with it.

Well, they've been trolling people for 18 years with Leno on the Tonight Show and kicked Conan and Letterman to the curb.

Yes. GOD YES.

It's smart TV for people who like TV. It's funny. The writing is sharp. And, yes, sometimes it misses (they really DID write Chang into an unpleasant corner) but when it's good ... it's the best thing on TV by a mile. Look at the ani-magic Christmas episode ... not just for the homage to the genre, but for the character development inside the episode.

And the musical number in the last episode ... Winger and the Dean and Shirley/Britta and Pierce ... that wasn't just funny, and outrageous, it was bloody good music, and even a little touching, too.

So pissed at NBC right now.

Yep Completely agree. Community is one of the most original comedies on TV right now, though I guess a audience that makes piece of shiat Adam Sandler's movies #1 at the box office can't possibly appreciate that.

Whitney is just trash. The only promising thing about NBC's new Thursday lineup will be Up All Night taking shiatney's Thursday night spot and shiatney getting relegated to Wednesday night with the almost assuredly terrible Chelsea Handler show.

Community effing rocks. It's the first show in a while on the networks that I have loved season after season. The random tangents are awesome, too. DO NOT KILL THIS SHOW

Perhaps more people would watch if it weren't on at the same time as The Big Bang Theory.

The problem community has is it is sort of the odd show out. I mean sure pretty much everything on NBC thursdays gets crap ratings (other than maybe The Office), but 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, The Office, and probably Whitney are all owned by NBC/Universal. So the profits on those shows are higher than with Community that is owned by Sony, so that sony makes the money off DVDs and if it makes the right number of episodes Sony makes the money from syndication (the same thing happened with My Name is Earl). Plus unlike 30 Rock and the Office (and a little bit P&R) Community hasn't been shown any love by the emmys. I mean it is one thing to keep a low rated show on if it is award winning, but Community (while loved by critics) doesn't have awards working in its favour either.

Everything I've read today is outrage-- and it's been pretty evenly split between Community being put on hiatus and OWS being raided. And it's been at about the same level of indignation as well.

I agree. It isn't that funny anymore, just really silly and annoying. It is like they went from adult humor down to what a grade schooler finds funny.

It's on the front page, happened last night. They're waiting to be let back into the park on court orders. Some long forgotten God of Disenfranchised Young People must have been jackin' it pretty hard yesterday.
