I'm pretty excited about this movie.

Why did they use an actual picture of Kristen Stewart? I don't get the joke.

Have you seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall? He wrote it, along with all the muppet stuff. Even if you don't like him as an actor, he seems to be a pretty kickass writer.

He said he cried the first time he heard Kermit say lines he wrote. Dude's pretty genuine too. Me and my GF have been looking forward to this since it was announced.

THIS though, you already have a Vampire. I know Kermit's the lead. But come on.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of the reasons I loath the guy. And just because he is in love with an institution doesn't mean he won't fark it up when put in charge of it.

/but to be fair - Disney was doing that all on its own anyways so might as well give someone else a shot at it

Well then. We just have different tastes in comedy. I went in thinking it'd just be another cliche movie and ended up loving it, me and my girlfriend alike.

Seconded.

What was so bad about Forgetting Sarah Marshall? No, it wasn't one of the greatest comedies of all time like Richard Roeper claims, but I just don't get why it would cause this much loathing for the guy who wrote and starred in it.

I don't get the Jason Segel hate, either. I only recently started watching How I Met Your Mother and he's pretty good. Didn't see Sarah Marshall but *did* see Get Him to the Greek--I liked that movie far more than I should have. I listened to an interview w/him this morning and he kept stressing how respectful he wanted to be of the Muppets throughout the process and wanted to bring them back to their Muppet Show days. I have high hopes for this movie but all I really want is that it doesn't suck (Muppets of Oz, anyone?). And he's got a good start so far of avoiding suck, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Even if I wasn't a huge Muppet fan I would be tempted to see the Muppets because of two words: Amy Adams

I'm kinda surprised by all the Jason Segel hate. I love the guy :(

I watched him on Freaks & Geeks when I was in high school and thought he was as adorable as adorable can be. He reminded me exactly of some of my male friends back then and his adult personae has pretty much transitioned for the same type but not really annoying man-child like others.

/I liked Sarah Marshall too

I went back and watched F&G. The names that came out of it were all pretty solid. I'd say that everyone in the core cast has enjoyed pretty constant work since it was canceled:
Jason Segel
Seth Rogen
James Franco
John Francis Daley

Then a few people that you're like "That guy!"
Martin Starr
Samm Levine
Linda Cardellini

That shiatty Muppets cover album halved my desire to see this movie.

Saborlas: It's possible to take on Twilight and LOSE?

The time I lost the remote and had to sit through fifteen minutes of "The Vampire Diaries" gives a resounding "yes" to that question.

I liked it.... and apparently it's now one of my nephews' favorite CDs. Even my brother who was a kid when the Muppet Show was on the air really likes the CD.

But to each his own.

Not part of the core cast but you can also spot:

Kevin Corrigan
Jason Schwartzman
Ben Foster
Lizzy Caplan

And not to mention Joel Hodgson and Trace Belieu of MST3K fame

He's probably not in the movie. Sesame Street Muppets and Muppet Show Muppets rarely cross over (Kermit being the primary exception).

I tried to listen to it but got turned off by OK Go's dirge-like version of The Muppet Show theme.

Frank Oz fully expects him to fark it up too...enough so that he is not doing any of the voices. From IMDB:

"Frank Oz, as stated in a recent interview, was dissatisfied with the script and how it portrayed the characters and therefore declined to reprise his roles in this movie. Prior to this movie he had unofficially retired from his Muppet career after filming Muppets from Space, focusing instead on his directorial career. While he still occasionally performs his Sesame Street characters, he has turned over his classic Muppet Show characters to Eric Jacobson."

Call it a viral advertising campaign or whatever, but the "spoofs" that they are doing for the Muppet Movie are really really good.

I will ABSOLUTELY be seeing this movie, one way or the other.

/went to the "Jim Henson's Fantastic World" exhibit when it came through AZ and was enthralled to see Kermit in person
//we still miss you a lot, Jim!
