Seriously Chicago was less corrupt when Capone was running the place from the underground.

At least he was running brothels! If you're going to get farked you should at least be able to actually get farked.

Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan cost taxpayers nearly half-a-billion dollars by blocking repeated efforts to restructure McCormick Place bonds and finance a much-needed second hotel at the convention center, a Crain's investigation finds.

I'm going to guess that all 5 refinance bills also piled on a bunch more debt, which would've meant the half-billion mentioned above would've went to pay the debt, and then some. Don't know for sure, can someone from Chicago check?

It reads like they were going to keep the same payout but with the resturcturing of the debt they were going to use the freed up interest money to pay for the hotel... though I am not sure how that would work since they were destined to eat into the general fund to pay their debt last year.

I know it is en vogue to shut down dialogue by calling your opponents names, but c'mon it's a joke! the whole black/white hat dynamic in today's politics is funny no matter which way you slice it.

Saiga410: Can we get rid of Madigan already? Send all of the powerbrokers in Springfield/Chicago home via catapult.

Bwhahahahahaha! No.

I'm not sure why all the outrage, this is just politics. Let me sum it up for those who can't follow the article the head of the convention center fired one of the politician who controlled the purse strings guys with out going through proper channels. This upset the political apple cart in Chicago and if you are going to do that you better have the biggest dick in the room.

Unfortunately for the convention center bozo he actually had the smallest dick in the room that could not would not get refinancing that allowed him to gain more political and economic clout in Chicago.

Then came along another group who was connected and had a fabulous idea, if only the convention center bozo would play ball, but because of his small cock and butt hurt over his previous spanking he refused to cut a deal that would be a small win for him and a big win for the politician.

This is big time politics, with billions on the line and tons of jobs, if you don't have enough lead in your pencil to dick em, deck em, and dork em then you should not even try to play the game.

...and again two threads later with the NY assemblyman. Not just the FARK headlines either; the articles don't have the captial "D" prominently noted in paragraph one either.

To be fair, it doesn't matter what party you are in in Illinois. And I say this as a Republican from Illinois. Both parties are rediculously corrupt. My state senator took office after his dad resigned midterm to become a lobbyist for Comed and proceeded to sponsor a bill that allowed Comed to raise its rates by 2.5 percent. He doesn't even live in an area that is serviced by Comed.

justinguarini4ever: Both parties are rediculously corrupt.

I'd say they're more moderately corrupt. Sort of European-level corrupt. This is mostly because southern Louisiana takes up like the top 1/3 of the world's gaussian distribution of corruptness, along with some random African dictatorships here and there.
