I think Brad Pitt understands the basic principles of supply and demand, and is trying to get a bigger payout for his next few movies. Which shows that he isn't stupid at all as we thought, he really does just have terrible taste in women.

We're hating on Brad Pitt now? How am I supposed to keep up if you all fall behind on the memos?

/and Angelina Jolie is awesome even if she's too skinny

As an actor, Brad Pitt is fine. I've seen him do some good stuff, although I've also seen him take some cakewalk roles because it paid a pile of cash and was easy work (and if I was an actor being thrown dumptrucks full of money like that, I'd dial it in too, sometimes).

2011-11-15 08:16:48 AM
He has never annoyed me. Him and George Clooney, even if the movie's not that good they don't annoy you.

2011-11-15 08:22:40 AM
Brad Pitt was in Fight Club. Your argument is irrelevant.

2011-11-15 08:42:21 AM
Pitt was really good in 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, Se7en...... I can't really think of anything he was BAD in. He's just in a bunch of movies I don't care about.

True. For all the films like Fight Club, Se7en, Snatch and Inglorious Basterds he's done he's also done things like Mr & Mrs. Smith. Though to be fair to him, Mr & Mrs. Smith didn't just offer a dumptruck full of money. It offered a dump truck full of money and the chance to film sex scenes (and pave the way for him to actually have sex with) Angelina Jolie. An opportunity I would have taken without pay.

Came to say thisthatthere. Those two exemplify what I would consider a true movie star to be. They hold the screen and the viewers attention. They raise the level of whatever they're in.
/Batnipples excluded.

Yeah ... his awesome roles (Snatch, Fight Club, True Romance, and many more) outweigh any crap he's phoned in (Meet Joe Black).

2011-11-15 08:59:39 AM
Say what you will, haters. I think he's a better than average actor, & I rather like a lot of his work.

Every actor/actress does crap movies. Jack Nicholson, Paul Newman, Gregory Peck, Daniel Day Lewis, they all did **** movies, some of them incredibly lame cash-ins.

The reason you don't hear about it is because no one talks about the crap movies of famous old actors, just the good stuff.

Moneyball, Megamind, Inglourious Basterds,Burn After Reading Oceans 1X, Snatch, Fight Club, Sleepers, Twelve Moneys Se7en, Kalifornia.

What do you hate about Brad Pitt again? It seems like he's made some awesome movies.

I want to hate Brad Pitt, but he's a pretty decent actor...

Unbelievably good in Snatch...

Him and Clooney together in Ocean's Eleven made what would have been a ho-hum heist flick one of my Top Ten. The two of them just have way more fun in that than anyone picking up a check for working should, and it shows.

He has? How? He barely works and picks a movie like every 3-5 years (I guess to avoid doing the crap movies you mention other guys doing).

Plus any movie with Daniel farking Day Lewis is good by association.

While he was awesome in Gangs of New York, the movie fell flat for me.

Mmm, haven't watched it. Don't like musicals.

TrainingWheelsNeeded: While he was awesome in Gangs of New York, the movie fell flat for me.

I can watch that movie over and over if only because of Bill The Butcher and the little parts from other actors (Neeson as the Priest, the Member of the Council who gets killed, Tamany, etc)

Obviously Hollywood can't make a movie without a farking "romance", so Cameron Diaz had to fark everything up.

I never liked how DiCaprio opposed to have his character's face scarred. Such a prima donna attitude. The guy is supposed to be scarred and he only got a half-an-inch cut in his cheek. farking poser.

I've never been a big fan of Brad Pitt, but he usually picks pretty decent movies. However, I tend not to believe people when they say they're going to stop doing _____ when they're ___ years old.

For an attractive guy he sure knows how to make himself look like a skeevy homeless man, though.

you're exactly right, between the "romance", Diaz's terrible accent/performance and Leo being a tough guy the movie fell apart around Bill the Bucther

I was going to come in here and say, hey, you know, Brad Pitt is actually not a bad actor at all. But it turns out that this is already the prevailing wisdom, so... um...

Never mind.

Yeah, he's pretty awesome.

Is Subby saying Brad Pitt is like Hayden Christensen or some actor from Twilight?

Cripes, Subby. You're either the worst troll ever or a complete moran.
You choose.

The only movie of his that I couldn't stand was the one that was clearly just an excuse to have Pitt and Redford in the same movie. I forget the name of it. (googles) Spy Game. That film reeked.

His other stuff seems pretty cool.

Pitt, Clooney, DiCaprio, Washington, Depp, Whittiker, ...can't really find fault with those guys. They can all hold a movie together.

The movie may have been written for him, but he was still excellent in Moneyball. He's no Lawrence Olivier, but there are roles at which he is quite good, and he does a good job at picking them - though WWZ may be a disaster.

I loved that movie oh so very much. But it was of course Casey Affleck that made it tick. Also loved Affleck in Gone Baby Gone. That movie was a lot better then I thought it'd be...

That's still one of my favorite movies, which I accidentally found thanks to Youtube's related videos while listening to Nick Cave.

a) Relax, it hasn't even been released yet.
b) If it does suck, it'll be despite Pitt, not because of him.

Pitt is okay in my book. He will be fifty in 3 years and very rich. Why not retire? Cary Grant is one of the few movie stars to actually retire. Most go on way too long.

Count me in as a Pitt fan as well. Seems like an easy going nice guy, and makes great films.

Because he knows- 50 for men in Hollywood is the dead age. Especially with Actors like Steve Martin and Robert Deniro willing to play Dad roles..Unless he wants to do TV or get some botox and pretend like he's 30 again. He's screwed.

Yeah, Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino never got main roles afterwards.

And Robert DeNiro only play Dads because he wants to have easy financing for his pet projects, not because he doesn't get other type of work.

But I understand, he's not as talented as those guys, so he fears of being relegated to irrelevancy like Warren Beatty or Dustin Hoffman.

Got no beef with Pitt. He's not one of those pretty boy actors who has to be a pretty boy in everything he does (looking at you, McConaughey. Stop looking for ways to take your shirt off in every movie). I'm a Denzel fan, but it seems like the past few years, save for American Gangster, he's been stuck in nothing but action thrillers (albeit some entertaining ones).

I am so very happy to see Burn After Reading get a little love. I don't know anyone in real life who likes it, and they roll their eyes when I want to watch it.
I also liked Mr & Mrs Smith, though, so whatever.
/He's hot when he doesn't have the gross hair everywhere
//And why would a man have a salt and pepper beard, and perfect dark colored hair? or vice versa?
