Still no reason to assume aliens would be pathologically afraid of the dark.

It isn't on Pluto. It's on Rupert, and the inhabitants there are very confused.

Before Ed Turner and Avi Loeb tell you about their research, they want to make one thing perfectly clear: they do not claim that there's a city on Pluto.

This seems like a spectacular waste of money and resources just to prove a negative.

I have been thinking if aliens were in out solar system they would be out in the ort cloud. If aliens came here what would they be looking for. Not us are tech is too low. If they want resources they would not come to earth. Too much energy to lift stuff off earth and too much energy to lift from our orbit out of the solar system. Objects in the ort cloud should have the same proportions of metals and such and the energy to take them away is so much lower.

What if they're wandering the galaxy looking for sentient life to devour?

Given the low density the Delta-V requirements would be not too far apart. Unless they had limitless patience.

Ecobuckeye: This seems like a spectacular waste of money and resources just to prove a negative.

Using existing technology and telescopes that will be examining the area of the sky in question anyway is a spectacular waste of resources?

"It's unlikely that there are cities in the Kuiper Belt, but we should not pretend we know this for sure," Turner says. "If it involves no additional resources, we should definitely [look for it]."

Plainly this will take billions of dollars away from other astronomical endeavors.

Why do you assume it isn't us? Maybe we're the most blood thirsty species in the galaxy and they need a war fought? Or we might make good slaves, because robots are so impersonal? Or maybe so they don't feel so alone in the galaxy? Ooh, what if there is a galactic council of species and the species having raised the most species to galactic "sentience" gets more prestige, influence, or votes, whatever.

Maybe they'd do it just to play practical jokes on us?

I don't think we could even express their real motives with our current vocabulary.

They use the phrase "leverage" a lot. It seems to be the basis of their gold based economy.

So: WAY TLDNR Back Story

Galactus was the last survivor of the prior universe. IIRC his outfit was what he was wearing back when he was still a "man"

Lets pretend for a moment we discover NOT ONLY is there life on Titan thats humanoid. Its like thats at a comprable level of development to the roman empire.

Now: We could through observation of this species learn a lot about where we came from.

This is what Anthropologists do with tribal cultures that exist today

I love how they assume they would need light to see during the day being that far away from the Sun instead of thinking they could have adapted to the light available and see just as clearly as we do. Heck they could even see energy like Neo.

Maybe a few of those rare star clusters are really massive cities. They are after all, some of the oldest stars in the universe. Maybe some of those Quasars are actually searchlights or disco balls.

It's unlikely that there is a million dollars hidden under the carpet in my closet, but I should not pretend I know this for sure. If it involves no additional resources, I should definitely look for it.
