Is that his latest excuse for shamelessly profiting off the Occupy movement?

So, did his dad abandon him or die or both?

One of my buddies who is way into Jay Z says that the "biatch" in the song is actually referring to the K-9 that the cops are going to use to search his car.
/I shrugged and said "makes sense, I guess".

Is that kind of like the G&R song about Axl Rose's dog?

Meh. 99% problems.

One needs an excuse for legal behavior?

I'm actually okay with people profiting off the stupidity of folks jumping onto trendy causes. I laugh every time I see a kid wearing a Che Guevara shirt that someone convinced him to pay 40 bucks for.

I'd wager that a good 10% of the guys at the Occupy protests are there to win points with a hippie chick.

It fits in context in one verse

"We'll see how smart you are when the canine comes"
"I got 99 problems...."

In the final verse he talks of "but aint nothing sweet how I hold my gun...I got 99 problems being a biatch ain't one"

So biatch as a dog fits in context in one verse but in the final verse he is absolutely not referring to a female dog.

/love that damn song

His music is overrated, and his wife is a money grubbing whore. They're on a long list of people I don't give a fark about along with the Kardashians, and the Jersey Shore shortbus commandos.

There are plenty of things that are legal that are also incredibly douche-y. This is one of them.

As a kid, Jay-Z's father abandoned his family suddenly, something that has affected Jay his whole life.

wait.... how is that any different from many many other black American sons?

I'm I supposed to feel worse for him v.s. all those other kids because he's famous?

Don't like it, don't buy it. One would think OWS would be happy with the free publicity the shirts generate.

I think it's more of the other way around. Jay-Z is a one-hit wonder, desperate for attention by clinging to the latest fad.

Multi-millionaires the world over are hoping it is. The rest of us are hoping it has staying power.

My pops left me an orphan, my momma wasn't home
Could not stress to me I wasn't grown; 'specially on nights
I brought somethin home to quiet the stomach rumblings
My demeanor - thirty years my senior
My childhood didn't mean much, only raisin green up
Raisin' my fingers to critics; raisin' my head to the sky
BIG I did it - multi before I die (nubian)
No lie, just know I chose my own fate
I drove by the fork in the road and went straight

A line from Renegade- A song off of Blueprint, that he did with Eminem. Jay z hates his dad, and, well,, It's pretty well documented how Em feels about his mom, soooo, a real chipper song

TeddyRooseveltsMustache: His music is overrated,

To be fair, that's only because the critics damn near start a riot to fellate him every time he releases farking anything, not because he sucks, particularly. He's far from terrible from a quality standpoint, if you didn't know that he was an incompetent attention-whoring jackass with an IQ short of 30 outside of his work and only knew him from music radio you'd probably assume he's a fairly average guy with decent lyrical ability.

//There being a potential sociological reason you're a farking dumbass doesn't actually change anything about you being a farking dumbass.

Yes, because Jay-z being asked about the poor relationship with his father in the context of a discussion about his unborn child means that he wants you to feel worse for him than every other fatherless person in the world.
