Rex retorted, "Lick my toes!"

"Thirty-seven points on the best defense in the league, s--- my d---," the Patriots coach said in celebration.

uhh....You played the Jets, not the 49ers.

/jets are 17th in points surrendered and 8th in yards per game.

S*** my d***

I'd like to buy a vowel.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rex Ryan had claimed sometime this week that his defense was the best in the league.

Are those all points, or does it also count points off turnovers? Jets had three fumbles returned for TD's in their game against the Ravens, and a pick-6 last night (and must have been a few more throughout the season).

I should have said, points by the opposing offense or all points.

Wait, so a full grown male who either watches and plays football used the term suck my dick when celebrating and this upsets people? And he didn't do it during the press conference?

Really subby, sure you don't want to come over and watch the Gilmore Girls marathon my wife has decided to go on? Seems more your speed.

Meh, if I'd just humiliated the Jets, I'd probably pop off a good one liner too.

Since when has Belichick stayed classy ever? He's got a "f*ck you" attitude and it works just fine.

Rex Ryan frequently boasts about his defensive acumen and defensive players (he was afterall a former D-Coordinator.) To be fair, NE NYJ games are in fullblown rivalry stage at this point so it's more than likely trash talk will be had on both sides.

About the game last night, Tom returned to his early-season form against a really solid secondary. The defensive effort in the redzone on the first drive with the NYJ roflstomping up the field was amazing, the missed kick was lucky. NE once again, won't be going far into the post season if the defense continues to suck. However, the ability for the NE defense to stop teams in the redzone consistently baffles me.

While an NFL coach shouldn't conduct themselves like that, Jet fan has to realize that you really do deserve any and all verbal abuse that comes your way thanks to your head coach.

the more he chirps, the better it is.

in other news, the Texans are the best team in the NFL at yards surrendered?

and check this out: the AFC North dominates the top 6 teams in yards surrendered. wow.

NFL leaders in yards surrendered
1) Houston (269.7)
2) Steelers, (280.1)
3) Ravens (284.7)
4) Jags (296.4)
5) Bengals (304.2)
6) Browns (306.1)

"Hey, Belichick's better than you!"

"Shut the fark up."

IDK who deserves CoTY more. Wade Phillips for his defensive turn around in Houston or Jim Harbaugh and his 49ers. Granted, we'll probably see both in the playoffs this year.

Mostly because the linebackers can't keep pace in coverage with slot receivers but, that could be said about many defenses in the league.

Arkanaut: Are those all points, or does it also count points off turnovers?

Probably just raw points. Pulled straight from NFL.com.

There are breakdowns for fumbles, INTs, safeties, etc., but I just posted the raw numbers. Points is points! (new window)

(it is hard to tell though...Arizona, for example, under safeties, it says 3. well....I don't know how many safeties we've forced, but I'm pretty damn sure we've given up three. Hell, we had 2 back to back last week. so you'll have to delve through the numbers a bit to find out what a "2" means, for example, under Jets INT TDs.

there's no way Harbaugh doesn't win it.

that's virtually the same 53 players that stumblefarked to year after year of 7-9, 9-7, 4-12 records since Alex Smith was drafted.

Harbaugh shows up, and they've got a credible argument for the best team in the NFC. the Packers are undefeated, but....their defense isn't great. and you know the old adage about what wins championships. I'm not saying the 49ers are in fact, the best team in teh NFC, but put it this way; Packers/49ers, who wins that game, if each team plays home field?

Becuase someone overheard it and thought it would add fuel to the rivalry fire. The 24/7 media-hype machine likes to create controversy.

Pretty much everyone (not the media) who's ever spent time around belichick said he's actually a fairly talkative/humorous (in his own way) guy. The gruff, no-nonsense, A55hole you see is just a persona he puts when he's on camera.

SF was ripe for a decent coach to show up and actually get a really solid corps of players (TONS of #1 draft picks over the years) to play well. So i'll take Jim as CoTY with 1lb of salt.

Aside from the fact that it's not awarded to coordinators, IMO Houston's turnaround has as much to do with acquiring Johnathan Joseph as hiring Philips.

I assume it was overheard in the reporters on-field "scrum" as the teams were walking off. He certainly didn't say it in the press conference, or on the record with any member of the media.

gilgigamesh: If it was so private why was it published, and why are we talking about it?

Because there are about 1,000 cameras and microphones on the field in the immediate aftermath of a game that can pick up anything, and the media feels the need to report whatever it catches.

exactly. The offenses (except MAYBE Stillers) in the AFC North suck. Add that to the decent defenses, and playing the worst division in football, and you have a lot of low yardage totals

What does that mean, "You were only playing the Jets, not the Niners?" This was a divisional game where the Jets' head coach blabbed about everything including the defense no matter what their rank is.

Rex needs to talk less and to spend some more time with Sanchez because as one article mentioned, for a third year QB Sanchez hasn't shown the growth you'd expect to see.

It was also nice that Dion Branch mocked Fireman Ted as well.
