McQueary, who is on paid administrative leave after getting death threats

Why does he even still have a job? What he did was worse than what "Joe Pa" did.

This guy saw a 10-year-old boy being anally raped by an old man. Most human beings would rush over and punch the old guy in the face or pull him off the boy. At the very least yell "HEY! STOP THAT!". This guy saw what was happening and just walked away. The 10-year-old boy even looked over at him, probably with a look of "Please help me" in his eyes. McQueary didn't help. McQueary walked away and let the rape continue. He's the 2nd biggest scumbag in this story, right behind Sandusky.

They can't fire him in the middle of the case, because then it would look like he was being fired BECAUSE he was testifying. And obviously, Penn State is all about appearances above all else.

But yeah, he is a bastard of the highest order.

What defines a whistleblower? Unless I'm missing something, the scumbag kept the secret for a decade and only started blabbing once he was summoned to the grand jury.

Walker: Most human beings would rush over and punch the old guy in the face or pull him off the boy.

Having seen many people put in dire situations for the first time in their lives, I can tell you this statement is false, however much you'd like it to be true. Most people panic at small kitchen fires, let alone coming across the most shocking possible scene you could imagine short of Sandusky butchering the child. He panicked.

Put me firmly in the camp that wishes he had simply choked out Sandusky on the spot, but that is entirely unrealistic. Calling 911, however? That should have happened, absolutely. Period, by anyone of the several in the chain of command in the next week at the very least.

He is protected under PA's whistle blower laws. He can't be fired, suspended or anything in relation to the case since he is the one who filed the initial report.

Rules to witnessing anyone having sex with a 10 year old,
1. Kick the shiat out of the perpetrator, or at least try
2. Call the police
3. If the police does nothing about it call the detective
4. If the detective does nothing about it call the prosecutor
5. If the prosecutor does nothing about it, call the press.
Otherwise you are just as guilty

All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

Nah, he fulfilled his "legal" duty by going to Paterno with what he saw IN 2002 (although now exactly what he said is debatable.. don't know how "farking a child" gets lost in translation). He failed at his "human" duty to make sure it never happened again. By going to Paterno, he could be considered a whistleblower.

You are missing something. He told Paterno, and figured he was observing the chain of command. Supposedly, Paterno notified the school but instead of telling the public authorities, the school only forced Sandusky to retire. What the story reeks of is cowardice and passing the buck.

When you report organizational wrongdoing to the upper management of your company, you're a whistleblower even if you get coerced into silence. Moral judgment aside, the University's reporting policy was followed by him at least. They're in the midst of an internal, state and federal investigation to iron out who knew what and when, and firing the only person that people seem certain that he reported what he saw quickly would be a bad decision.

Trust me, he's going to be a named defendant in civil suits; he'd be more than motivated to sue PSU for wrongful termination.

That's not correct: Sandusky had already been retired in 1999.

They asked him not to rape any more little boys on campus and took away his keys in 2002.

You know, for the kids in the football program. Have to put first things first!

Robert1966: You are missing something. He told Paterno, and figured he was observing the chain of command. Supposedly, Paterno notified the school but instead of telling the public authorities, the school only forced Sandusky to retire.

Not exactly: Sandusky had retired after the incidents in the 90s (the janitor-witnessed one and the mother-reported one, which I think were separate). What isn't clear is what the University did other than "ban Sandusky from bringing minors on campus" in 2002, an unenforced (and hardly enforceable) edict at best. Did he lose his keys? Did PSU stop using him as a football recruiter? He was reportedly doing recruiting trips around here last year.

What the story reeks of is cowardice and passing the buck.

Yes. The Grand Jury report makes that clear.

PC LOAD LETTER: I don't understand that either. There must be a back story we're not getting.

I have no idea if this is the case, but, I read somewhere that most, if not all of the victims might have been African American. Which, if true, then will bring into question (and many prominent people will bring it up just on the face of that) whether it was not reported on partially because of that reason. Not that this case needs more and more levels, but, I have the feeling it probably will get them.

Honestly, listening to other people gives interviews on this and mention the same thing... I can somewhat understand the "initial" reaction of just getting "away" from the situation... this wasn't just a random person you walked into in the shower doing this... this was someone who you knew and respected. To an extent, you might just need to "get away" to process what you just walked in on. Also, if this person was able to do that, could be have a weapon with him as well? Who knows.

After about 5-10 minutes though, I would think that at the very least, you'd try to catch the kid as he left the facility and try to find out who the kid was, for reporting purposes. That is the worst part about that one... unless I am mistaken, that kid is totally unidentified now, since NOBODY else tried to determine who he was, and Sandusky has maintained that none of these incidents happened. Who knows, the kid might be dead for all anyone knows.

I would be interested to know if McQuery and Sandusky ever had any interactions in public after that incident though. It would be super disgusting on McQuery's part to know that he shook hands at some event with him or something of that sort as if he'd never seen anything.
